| Did vet give her unnecessary meds? Hey everyone, I'm no vet (obviously) but I'm curious about the intestinal worms and such in puppies. Every dog I've ever gotten (to my memory) has had some sort of worms as a puppy. In the past, I've gotten all my dogs from rescues and shelters so perhaps that's why. Anyway, Piper went in for her first visit a month ago (immediately after we brought her home) and they said she had Giardia and another one. We didn't get the results for a few days and during that time I never saw anything in her stools, nor were they watery or anything. I know these things can probably just be hidden and unseen by the naked eye, but I wanted to ask some of you pros if you think medicating her was necessary. The only reason I ask is because if the vet over did it, I don't want to take her back there. Thanks! |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Giardia is a protozoa, not a worm, too small to be seen by the naked eye. But they can see it when they take the stool sample and look at it under a microscope.

| Okay thanks. I figured so, but I just wanted to be sure. Those meds were pricey! |
