| My dog had pancreatitis years ago. I was told make sure to avoid pork of any kind, as it is a fattier meat. I feed both my dogs a raw diet. For Vinnie, my older one who had pancreatitis years ago, I feed him Nature's Variety or Primal frozen medallions/nuggets. These are raw raw and use human-quality food and are basically just meat and vegetables (dogs don't need grain!) They have the right proportion of fat in them, as well as other nutrients. For my other dog, I am currently feeding him a completely home-made diet, although I will probably slowly transition him over to the medallions/nuggets, mainly for convenience but also to ensure that he is getting all the nutrients he needs. However, his current diet consists of meats of various kinds (beef heart, chicken liver, lean beef, chicken, salmon - all raw), high-fat plain yogurt, plain pumpkin, and a variety of supplements (salmon oil, bone meal, whole food supplements, and acidophillus). As long as you stick with lean meats, your dog should be fine. However, make sure that you use ground bone or a bone meal supplement - it is very important for ensuring that your dog gets enough calcium.
