food suggestions? I'm interested in changing Zeke's food. He is currently on Hill's prescription Z/D low allergen and lately has no interested in eating which is really unlike him. He has allergies to wheat ( he gets really itchy, red ears, and dry skin) so the vet had put him on z/d when he was about 5 months old. Zeke loves to eat and now he doesn't care about breakfast or dinner. He would rather not eat than eat the z/d. I'm not sure why, but I think he is just being picky and wants a change. :p Does anyone has any suggestions on other dry kibble that Zeke could eat? :) Thanks! |
I dont have any suggestions sorry as ive never had a dog with allergies like this, can your vet not recommend something else? |
There should be tons of grain-free food out there that you can try. Or food that has the 'high quality' grains - minus the wheat. My Westie eats Blue Buffalo Wilderness and I don't think it contains wheat. Some of the larger, high end food companies will send you little sample bags if you go to their websites. |
Acana and Orijen are some of the best kibbles out there currently in my opinion! :) They're both grainfree and definitely worth checking out. Go! and Now! (by Petercuran Pet Food) are good too, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Blue Buffalo Wilderness, are a few off the top of my head. Taste of the Wild is probably the best grainfree food for the price and it IS ethothyxin free now! |
Thanks for everyone help! :) |
I 2nd Britster w/ the Acana!! I got my 9 year old Scottie on their Fish blend about 3 weeks ago after I was convinced she had a grain allergy (itchy paws/skin & chronic ear infections) and they are clearing up! Plus she LOVES the taste!:thumbup: |
Acana is a great food, if that doesn't work out, look into California Natural it's a limited ingredient diet made for sensitive stomachs. |
