| I may get some of the dehydrated because we are going on a plane.(She's missing 6 teeth and counting... she is only picking at kibble) Perhaps a little topper would help. I honestly have never seen her gobble up food like this, it's awesome.

| I feed Primal raw. They eat a lot less raw than kibble. The food is more nutrient dense. I feed my two girls for about 45 month. I recently spoke to a Nature Variety rep and I believe they have developed a kibble that reaps all the benefits of raw! Have you checked out their website? I am so so bad for the environment. I use those lil 4 or 5 inch round paper plates. The real thin cheap ones. AS soon as the girls eat I throw them away. No chance of cross contamination in my house. My girls eat in about 15-20 seconds. They looooove it.. even my lil picky eater. they dance at dinner time. I was feeding Honest kitchen too but decided to go raw raw. WE like both! |

| Their website is great! Sooo much info! I'm going to the future inlaws' house and they already think I'm over the top about Kasha so I want to keep her eating as simple as possible. Right now she's only eating mushy warm kibble. Brat. :-) She loves the dehydrated Stella& Chewy patties tho so perhaps those. As for being bad for the environment, I wash her raw plate in the sink & dishwasher. Eek waste of water!

oooohhhhh.....I thought prey model raw was a brand, haha. That is so good to know, because I can definitely afford to buy some meat and such at the grocery store, and since my husband and I are hunters, we shall have duck and hopefully venison for them in the fall/winter So do I just give them a bone to chew on, or do I need to somehow grind them up? Would that ruin my blender or food processor? I'm assuming a raw bone from like a beef roast or steak, right? I am so very glad you responded to my post! Thank you!

| chicken bone? I've heard by many people that chicken bones splinter and can cause serious damage to a dog...would like a pork bone be alright? I just want my boys to be safe, but I want to be able to give them at least a little raw...today I was food saver-ing a bunch of meat, and I gave them a tiny piece each of a pork roast...they gobbled it up, leading me to believe they would LOVE at least a little raw...

| Remember. Most of these are grinds! It's almost impossible to detect the bones Bones. Raw bones would be consumed in the wild. As far as the recalls. They were voluntary by the company. They made the discovery and offered. I don't use this brand. But I think it was concerning quality SMS was not necessarily harmful. |

| Oh, thank you! I thought it was all chicken bones, regardless. So considering the fact that I will have ducks this coming fall, would those bones also be alright to feed my boys as long as they are raw? They will certainly get some of the meat. If we do end up doing raw, it will be prey model, but thanks so much for the Nature's Variety recall. Prey model is the easiest way for me to do it I think, and it won't break the bank, especially since my husband likes duck breast jerky, but none of the other parts. Now I have something to do with the rest of the duck! Thanks so much for all the help, I've really learned a lot about raw on here!

Consumer complaints about Nutro Pet Foods I'm not sure what you mean by will Nutro contain bones though, because it's a kibble?

| Honest Kitchen - Is dehydrated - Honestly, I don't consider it "RAW" food. My big dog makes a mess with this splashing it all over the place.. When you dehydrate something you cook it, Honest kitchen admits that all the meat is cooked in order for it to be processed in the facility they use. They say it's at low temperatures, but they don't tell you what temperature they cook the meat at. They however did publically say they cook the veggies in the low 100's degrees. Depending on the meat in the food some have to be cooked at higher temperatures. I had a chart of the min. requirements somewhere, the temperatures was upwards of 140 degrees depending on the meat. Freezed Dried - Is also cooked, but I believe it's a better and more expensive process and retains more of the benefits that a raw food diet provides. Anyway, here's my run down on what I like and don't like about each raw food. Primal - I absolutely love this organic raw food. Nortwest Naturals - I love the 1lb individually wrapped bars, scored in 1/4 increments. Their large bags tear easy, but those 1 lb bars are awesome. Stella and Chewys - Really nice Frozen bag, I haven't used them much, but it really did look like really tasty high quality meat. Their Freeze dried version is great, even the pickiest dogs seem to like it. Nature Variety - Packaged well, I couldn't feed this to my dogs due to allegery issues with Eggs (this food has a ton of eggs). The company handled the recall professionaly and gave us no issues on returns of the food. They changed the process and now the food safer and better. Aunt Jeni's - I don't like the scoop for a larger container method. I prefer the nugget and patty method. But it does smells fresh and yummy. Vital Essentals Raw - I wanted to eat the beef patties, I just wished the food was sealed instead of closed with a twist tie. Raw Advantage - Comes package like Ohama Steaks, only used it once, there's not a distributor where we are located, but the owners was nice enough to send us a box to try out. I'm sure I'm missing a few others.. |
