| New Puppy Hello all, I just got a new puppy, and the breeder asked me to stay on purina for 1 year; personally, i want to change that, do you think it will be alright to change the food? thank you for your input! |

| Yes, I would change it. I don't personally think purina is that great of a food. Make sure you change it slowly over at least a week. Add a little of the new food to the old, maybe 1/4 the amount for a few days, then 1/2, then 3/4 then you can just feed the new altogether.

If you read the sticky threads at the top of this forum, there are charts that rate different foods. Purina is really low on the charts! Congrats & good luck with your new baby!

| Not to discount the breeders advice, but you are the parent now. All of that responsibility means that you get the privilege of making the important decisions. YT has a wealth of information on good pet foods, just google! Yes, definitely change the food. Best wishes............

| My new puppy is on Purina also. My vet said I could change it but that it would be best to wait 2 weeks or a month so that he can get used to us first. Also, be sure to do it slowly like everyone said above. Don't want to change too many things in his life at once......Good luck!
