| I've never tried them - but wanted to add: My hubby's going through Chemo; anything that tempts him to eat is good. Right now, it's Vanilla Malted Shakes ... and I stop at a stand that has been in the same family for over 50 years on the way home from Chemo. I noticed the other day that they are now offering a Dog Bowl: a small dish of vanilla ice cream with 4 strategically placed Milk Bones . They said that everyone always brings their dog, and always share - so they made a special dish just for them! I know it's probably not good for the pups ... too much sugar and milk ... but I thought it was a nice thought! Now, the Frosty Paws is probably healthier, at least by a bit: Calories 128 Fat 7g Sodium 196 mg Sugar 9g Guaranteed Analysis Crude Protein not less than 8.0% Crude Fat not less than 6.5% Crude Fiber not more than 1.0% Moisture not more than 68.0% Ingredients Water, dried whey, soy flour, animal fat (preserved with BHA and BHT) dry whey product, dried whey protein concentrate, vegetable fat, soy lecithin, microcrystalline cellulose, mono and diglycerides, carboxmethyl-cellulose, polysorbate 80, polysorbate 60, calcium carbonate, choline chloride, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, manganese sulfate, magnesium oxide, silicon dioxide, vitamin a supplement, vitamin e supplement, niacin supplement, copper sulfate, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin supplement, potassium iodine, thiamine monoitrate, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin B12 supplement, folic acid. I know I'll look for some at the store ... Last edited by Lee B; 05-12-2009 at 03:49 PM. |

| my boy loves frosty paws. he actually ends up only eating half of the cup at a time. i think because his tongue gets tired trying to lick it all up. its so funny. his beard smells like ice cream when he's done eating! treat the ice cream like a treat.....in moderation its probably not that bad. |

| Ellie had it once and threw up all over the place. Never again. The ingredients aren't good anyway. I'd get some plain or maybe flavored (no artificial sweeteners) yogurt and freeze that for a treat.

| I never saw the bht and bha in them, but, my brothers yorkie just got put down today, she was 8 years old and had cancer. Those 2 ingredients are in a lot of dog foods, even in people food. This is what it says online about those 2. BHA and BHT Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydrozyttoluene (BHT) are additional additives to red flag. They are antioxidants used to preserve common household foods by preventing them from oxidizing. Both keep fats and oils from going rancid and are found in cereals, chewing gum, potato chips, and vegetable oils, but there is concern that they may cause cancer. "The structure of BHA and BHT will change during this process [of preserving food], and may form a compound that reacts in the body," says Gerbstadt. "BHA and BHT are not stable or inert. They're not just hanging out and being excreted by the body." Gerbstadt says that they are obviously not added for the purpose of giving people cancer, but for some people, some of the time, there may be that risk. | Sam has had it before, he likes it. But he only gets a little bit at a time. It did not make him sick.

| I bought it for Bailey, after she got a bacterial infection and the vet said no more people food....she liked it and it didn't bother her stomach. Although, she prefers my husbands ice cream.

| We make our own "Frosty Paws" at home! I can't remember our recipe off the top of my head but here is one that is similar to ours. Ingredients: 32 oz. vanilla (we use plain) yogurt, organic if possible 1 mashed banana or large jar of banana baby food, good source of fiber and potassium 2 T. peanut butter, organic if possible- low sodium even better 2 T. honey, organic if possible Directions: Blend all together and freeze in either 3 ounce paper cups or ice cube trays. Microwave just a few seconds before serving.
