Pet Insurance? Do most of you have pet insurance? I'm trying to decide whether or not to get it... |

Personally I dont have it... after reading the policies and what was covered, I figured financially it would be better for me to put the 100 or more I would spend each month into a savings account for their medical expenses. maybe it would be more worthwhile with only one dog, I dont know? |
I have pet insurance with pet plan. Have a Blessed day! |

I have pet insurance for my two dogs. About 45 dollars each month for each dog, covers emergencies and injuries, dental care etc. but not preventitive care. That one is about 80+ dollars a month each. |
I have insurance on my 3 girls. I have VPI and pay 21.00 a month for each one. I personally like knowing if a major illness/accident happens I have the insurance. |

Yes it is worth the peace of mind for me. I think I get a small discount for multiple dogs, but when I just had Cali it was like 23.00 a month. |
I'll have 2 dogs next week, and I saw I could get a discount, too. I just get so confused with coverage and deductibles, etc. It's a headache looking around for quotes. |
I have PetPlan w/a $200 deductible, and pays 80% for accidents and injuries...Good thing is, it also covers anything the breed is predisposed to get, as long as they didn't have it at the time of the policy...Like luxating patella, liver shunt, collapsed trachea, and all those horrible things that pups can get later in life...I hope and pray I never have to use it, but I pay $17 a month, for peace of mind (that's for one kiddo)... |
I have VPI for one pee-nut! I just wanted the peace of mind in case someone was caring for Priscilla to have that card so she would get immediate care. I'm not even a worrier but after reading so many sad, sad stories about pet care emergencies......I wanted my baby to be covered. |
Thank you all for your responses... Now I have to choose between VPI and Pet Plan. Does VPI cover uxating patella, liver shunt, collapsed trachea, etc? |
I'm in Canada, and have pet insurance through PC Financial. ~$15 a month for peace of mind. |

I have VPI, I get a discount on it at work, but I only have it on one of ine because he was a puppy when I got him. Its to expensive to get it for older dogs, also they can say its a pre-exsiting condition. |
I was wondering the same thing when i got Jersey Boy, should I get the insurance or not. Well I decided to get it in Oct 2009. I was so glad I did because in Nov 2009 Jersey broke his leg. The bill was over 3200.00, it didn't pay the full cost but it certaintly helped. |
I guess I have to get the ball rolling and choose a company already! It looks like VPI will give me a huge discount for having 2 dogs, but I don't know if they cover conditions prone to Yorkies. Does anyone who has it know if they do? |

I have Petplan. If I'm not mistaken, they do cover predisposed conditions but not preexisting conditions. I have a $100 deductible with an 80% reimbursement plan for about $20 month. I have it for both of my babies. I had to use it a few weeks ago but my claim hasn't been processed yet for me to give any feedback as far as that goes. |

VPI does not cover genetic, hereditary or pre existing. They did not cover Cali's bills for determining her Liver shunt, and when Dixie was diagnosed with congenital kidney failure they wouldn't cover it. SHe had 1900.00 in vet bills in one week and had to be put to sleep 5 weeks after I got her. SO if Pet Plan covers all of these conditions I think I would go with them. Cali has LP Grade 4 but they won't cover surgery if needed. |

This is what I have for my four babies as well. It really does help but I still put money away too. Some illness are not covered and they only pay out so much for any given illness/accident so a savings account is a must.:) |
