Canine Teeth My yorkie has his adult canine teeth, (all 4 of them), but he still has his baby teeth. He looks like Dracula because he has 8 canine teeth. Should I wait until they fall out, or take him to the vet to get them pulled? |
Charlie is 13 months and still has his canines, too. Both our groomer and the vet told us we should have them pulled b/c they'll be hard to keep clean. Right now I can't justify having him anesthetized to pull 2 teeth. The irony is that my husband is a dentist! Charlie'sMom |
My Mari 6 1/2 mos has her baby teeth with the adult coming in behind them on the bottom. I had her looked at and he has given a two week frame to see if the top ones will have a problem too. If they are left in there too long the teeth become crooked. I will have her fixed at the same time so she won't have to go under twice. My previous yorkie had this same problem and had to have her baby teet extracted also. I guess this is VERY common among toy breeds. |
Poor baby! Deegan's baby canines wouldn't fall out. His adult canines, started coming in and it looked so painful. So I had to take him in to get them pulled. I felt o bad for him. it just looked like it was so sore for him. And once the vet pulled them, he saved them for me to see. I couldn't believe how long they were. How did they ever fit in his tiny little head?? But yes, if I were you - I would get them pulled, not just because of pain. But also if you don't get the baby teeth out soon enough, when they finally do come out, the adult ones may not grow in straight. And that can cause difficulty eating and chewing in the future, and you don't want that to happen. |
