Anyone with very small yorkie I was wondering if there is anyone with very small yorkies? I was told today by vet my baby may only get 3 lbs. maybe less. I am really worried about her being a healthy dog. Vet said I am feeding fine but she is thin. I give her all she wants. Anyone with very small yorkies please let me know how your baby has done health wise. |
Melody is my small one, she is healthy as she can be:aimeeyork |
Thanks for the reply. Does she grow a long coat also? Any advise would greatly be appreciated on anything!!!! |
Chloe is full grown (19 months) and is just under 3 lbs.. I did worry alot in the beginning , but she proved to be a very strong , healthy girl :) She can grow a full coat , but I keep her shorter. |
Chloe is so sweet. The vet told me to keep clothes on Ratchet she is so small. I have made some out of socks. Having a hard time finding any that will actually fit her. No pet stores close and Walmarts clothes are all toooooo big. I have been looking online and am gonna order some to try. I appreciate your reply. Gives me a little more confidence. Thanks so much:) |

Jasmine is a 3 1/2 pounds 1 year old. She has been fine until tonight she gave us a scare and had to go to ER, got into something, they don't know what, but she is alright. She is a very good eater, but on the skinny side too. She is our little sweetie pie and spoiled rotten. As for cloths you can try the preemie baby cloths at walmart in the regular baby section. |
My Fiona is very small. She is 9 months old and weighs 2lbs 8oz.The vet said it is unlikely she will grow much more. She has been healthy but when we first got her she fell off our back porch and broke 3 bones in her paw. Don't want to scare you but the little ones need a little more attention. Our porch isn't that high and I never would have thought she would have broken anything if she fell. We never put her on the bed or couch. We just have to be a little be more cautious. She has a wonderful personality and was growing a long coat until the winter brought on dry skin. We are taking care of that but I think if that hadn't happened her coat would already be close to the ground. I am learning, good food and possible suppliments help with the skin and coat. Might want to look into it if you are worried about growing it out. I think I would like it long too, just to see!:) Good luck! |

You are welcome. I hadn't thought about it until last weekend and then I went looking in the baby section to see how it would work and you are right the onesies that is all you have to do to them. They have some really cute ones and very inexpensive. |
My Ruby is a tiny girl at just over 3 lbs. At 6 months she was 1-1/2 lbs and the vet thought she might gain another pound. At 13 months, she was just under 3 lbs and after spaying gained those few extra ounces to push her up over 3 lbs. She has always been a healthy girl except for once she got pancreatitis , when she was 18 months old. I was watching a friend's chi's, and Ruby thought she had to eat as much as they were eating. I, not knowing any better (I was thrilled to see her appetite so good) kept letting her eat and she just ate way too much for her size. Because she is so small I do have to be extremely careful with her, no jumping on and off furniture. Playing with her sibs, especially on hard floor surfaces, has to be curtailed - the boys can get wild playing, and I can't let Ruby play that rough. |
Melodie is 1 pound 3/4 at 1 year old . I never had problems with her . |
I also have a little one. Daisy was 1 yr. old in Dec. She weighs 2.8lbs. Very healthy and very fiesty:) Enjoy your baby. |
Ok She is small and the vet said she is healthy but thin. I can feel her ribs and it drives me nuts. She eats very well and the vet said her diet is fine. Do they all run thin feeling? If not , what can anyone recommend to get her to gain weight? Vet has me giving her Nutri cal to help. |
How old is she? What food are you feeding? From what I have read here and online there is no real way to determine size.... Some grow and some stay little/tiny. They are all wonderful just the tiny ones need a little more supervision when playing :) Even the larger ones are small babies compared to most dogs... |
