I would not recommend Eukanuba Dog Food. it is cheaply made with by-products,etc. I stopped feeding my yorkies Royal Canin and switched to Blue Buffalo 2 months ago. Now I am feeding my yorkies to Wellness Dog. ( I think Wellness is one of the best Dog foods out there) Here is the link for WELLNESS® - Healthy Dog and Cat Food

I wouldn't recommend it either. My baby's previous owners had her on Eurbanka (even the breeder), but after reading everything on here about it, I switched her to Wellness.

She absolutely loves it and chomps it down. Her coat/skin is also healthier because of it, and not so dried out. Plus the Wellness dried jerky treats are her favorite thing right now.

As state in previous posts, everyone will have an opinion. This has been discussed many times.
Gunnar started out on Royal Canine puppy and did fine. RC is what the breeder had all her Yorkies on. After reading so much on here, I switched him to <brain freeze> the one by Van Patten. I know that Gunnar likes the RC better. Just watch the ingredients and you'll do fine. Donna

I have always fed my yorkie Royal Canin 33 For puppies...she has loved it but this weekend i switched her over to Eukanuba and she seems to be doing good.. she loved it the first day but not im a little worried after reading..... not sure if to continue her on the Royal Canin

It is confusing when the Kibble Grading Chart in the Diet Forum rates Royal Canin & Wellness with an A+ and yet some members say one is bad for your yorkie and the other brand isn't .
I've been feeding Sophie Eukanuba and she is thriving on it. Our previous yorkie Baby loved it and lived to be just over 16 years old. Still, as I read the comments made I think maybe I should try to switch Sophie to Wellness.

Eukanuba is directly related to Iams which is linked to animal cruelty and lab testing on dogs so I would NEVER go near that brand of kibble. They also use meat by-products and fillers which is not healthy for pups.

The grading scale chart is very old, and personally I would not look to it to grade my pup's food. Dog Food Analysis has been trusted by many, and they grade food based on the meat content and protein level of kibble. Dogs are meat eaters and my opinion is=the more meat the better and that is why I choose to feed a raw diet with grainfree kibble.

Royale Canin has been in question due to their large use of corn which could create skin and hair issues in yorkies as well as health concerns for those who are allergic.

Some kibbles brands that I 100% trust that use no controversial ingredients and are ethoxyquin free include:
-Acana (what we feed our Snickers-Champion pet foods)
-Orijen (won pet food of the year in 2009-Champion pet foods)
-Fromm
-Innova (Natura Pet Foods)
-Innova Evo
-Nature's Logic

You should use a kibble that works for both your dog and for you.

It is very confusing, I have to agree with you. My mom feeds her yorkie the cheap stuff and her yorkie is perfectly fine and happy. Healthy, nice coat, no gunk in her eyes, no stomach issues or anything.

If something works for you then stick to it. I have not been able to find THE food yet either. I did wellness before and it was good I have to admit, I did RC and it made my dog very itchy.

RIght now Im doing Merricks before grain, it works good so far. Dogs are eating it and like it so I am sticking to it.

Snickers is CRAZY about his raw and Acana. I cannot rave enough about Acana...I have never seen Snick eat so regularly...he was always that "picky" dog.

OMG.....I feel like a complete idiot now after reading this thread. I have been using the IAMS toy breed food. I do notice that Duke does a lot of scratching around his face, and sometimes his eyes get red. Now I wonder if it's from the food.

I will definitely be switching him to something else. We have our other dog on IAMS as well.

No!!!!! Don't feel like an idiot...finding out about things is what this whole website is about!! All of us have to do what we feel is right for our pups, I am just happy to help others who might need it. Everyone has their own opinion and you will see many bump heads as well!!

Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble is a great site to find out about foods. They list and explain why they grade the foods the way they do and what are fillers, and controversial ingredients etc.
