Nature's Recipe Dog Food Has anyone heard anything about this particular brand of food? According to the petstore its one of the best premium dog foods. It doesn't contain beef, wheat, or corn, which is good. My furbaby likes it, but if there's unknown info about this food or company I would love to know. Thanks in advance |
You can check out reviews of it at Dog Food Reviews - All Products - Powered by ReviewPost If you scroll down you can read the explanation of why each food is graded the way it is. Remember that this website offers only opinions and you should do your own research and make your own choices. Bottom line -- feed what's best for you and your dog. As for me personally, I like to grade my food the same way as DFA does and we fed 5-6 star foods when we fed kibble. |
I don't think there's anything alarming or particularly bad about this food, at all. And if you must shop at Petsmart, it's definitely a higher-end food for such a store! I prefer to feed Jackson with a food with more meat proteins but if your dog is doing well on the Nature's Recipe, I wouldn't change it! |
Thanks, Britster for sharing. If you don't mind me asking, what type of food to you feed Jackson? |

Fromm is an amazing company, their customer service is absolutely the best. Their new shredded can chicken is absolutely amazing, it's a little pricey, but when you open the can you can see why, It's one of the best looking canned foods I seen in a long time. Ranks right up there with Hunk of Beef from Evangers. To bad the don't make them in a 5.5 oz can. The new grain free treats are also great, all the dogs seem to love them, they're about the the sized of 5 quarters stacked. |
In my opinion, there are a few red flags I see with Nature's Recipe after reading it's ingredient list. Tomoto Pomace as well as dried beet pulp are both considered fillers. When a food adds fillers to their recipe, to me that means that something is missing since there is room for fillers. It also has no fruits and veggies in this kibble, although not a neccesity, it's something I like to see for additional natural vitamins and minerals. I am obsessed with my Snickers' health and have looked into countless kibbles before feeding him them. Some of my favorite brands (that I 100% trust) of kibble are: -Innova -Acana -Orijen -Evo -Fromm -Nature's Logic Good luck to you:) -Snick & Viv |

The only thing I've ever wondered about is whether the terrier formula would be more beneficial than the toy formula. But other than that, I've never found any fault with it. |
District Yorkie, thanks for the info about the other kinds of food available from this company. Mocha is on the puppy formula. It was recommended to me that he stay on puppy formula until he is a year old, or to put him on a "all life stages" type of food. It can be so confusing to know what to do, I want him on the "healthiest" food possible, but its hard to know which one that really is? I'll keep researching. . . |
I agree with Viviansnickers, There's a few more red flags (salt, menadione sodium bisulfite complex, and lamb digest.) All the foods Vivian mentioned are excellent choices to consider. |
My dogs are and have been on Nature's Recipe Easy to Digest formula for over 2 years now and have done great on it. |
