To the person who feeds baby carrots for teeth I forgot who I saw that said they do this, I really would like to know more about this. I started feeding her baby carrots but would like to know how if you know how this keeps their teeth clean? What about carrots that helps with their teeth exactly? Is it just the texture against their teeth? How does it differ from other treats? |
Ooooh noooo Baby carrots are FULL of chlorine ( TOXIC ) |
Raw carrots are also a definite choking hazard, just as bad as grapes. be VERY careful feeding them. |
Well it could have been regular carrot pieces, I'm asking for that person specifically for their info that posted about it somewhere or whomever might know. She was talking about how her vet asked her how she kept the teeth so clean on her furbaby and she said carrots. I couldn't find it in search but I remember reading it recently. On the package of baby carrots under ingredients it doesn't say anything about chlorine or anything along that line. They are organic? Why would it be a choking hazard, I don't get it? They are not as small as what other people feed their babies like tiny training treats, peas, cut green beans, etc.. |

Baby Carrots are bad for my baby ???:eek: I thought I read on here that they were okay??!! Can someone please advise with specifics? Thank you in advance! |
Baby carrot's are a great snack for dog's I have Never heard them being bad. |
If you buy them from the grocery store and they are not organic, they are FULL of chlorine. There is info on this site somewhere. Do you ever notice them turning white? and also how long they last. Well organic carrots don't last that long and they don't turn that white. I PROMISE YOU I know this to be a FACT. All store bought carrots are soaked in chlorine, the baby ones are worse because they are not really baby carrots. They are large damaged and deformed carrots that are put through a machine and shaped like baby carrots. When they do this it removes the skin so they absorb more chlorine then the large carrots because the large ones still have the protective skin on them. If you are still doubting me then PM Dwerten and she will confirm this. I can tell you I don't know anyone who knows more info on foods then she does. |

I buy so much organic but had not made the switch to carrots yet.... Organic carrots from now on at our house. I also will be looking for their leaves on to ensure freshness. I was already shredding them for Zoey anyway so the regular size ones make no difference to me. Thank you all for the information!! |

Also per the American Cancer Society, soak all fruits and veggies in 1 tsp of bleach to a sink full of water for 10 min. Then rinse well and soak 2 to 3 more times in clear water and air dry. This will deactivate any pesticides and all other toxins. Also if you are not comfortable with the bleach you can use white vinegar. :D |

baby carrots are NOT soaked in Chlorine, some are treated with Chlorine but it is rinsed off before packaging and a lot of other vegetables are also treated in this fashion. The white film that forms is NOT Chlorine. |
