Hair Loss First let me introduce myself... My name is Mary and I have a 3 1/2 year old Yorkie named Bailey! Look forward to chatting with all of you! I've been searching the forums about my problem and although I found alot about hair loss, it did not define my problem. So here goes... For the last 2 days I'm finding 'hairballs' on my floor and a good bit of loose hair. He is not scratching or biting. Absolutely no signs of anything. He is a healthy dog, just had his checkup in August. I'm wondering if he is lacking something in his diet? He's been on Canidae dog food for about 6 months, maybe a year now. That's about all the info I can think of right now. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mary |

Hi Gina & Lexi... nice to meet you. |
Welcome! I cant help you, but Im sure someone on here can. By the way, I have a Bailey too! :D |
Hi Rhonda & Bailey!!!! Is your Bailey as bad as mine? Mine thinks he runs my house! |
Mine doesn't THINK ,he KNOWS, he runs the house! But we love em though, dont we. lol I had a cat for 7 years,,and he ruled the house,,UNTIL Bailey came,,that all changed. ha |
Mine only thinks he does... I can't let him get away with too much... give him an inch and he takes a mile!!!!! |
This recently happened to Missy. It turned out she caught fleas at the dog park and was alergic to them, with in a few days of catching the fleas her hair was falling out. I didnt see her scratching much but anytime she did scratch her hair would bunch up in a ball and the ball of hair would drop to the ground. I took her to the vet and gave her frontline, since then her shedding problem has stopped. |
Oh God... I hope not... My mother in law will have a field day!!!! She keeps telling me to put Frontline on him but I don't cause he don't go anywhere!!! I have been getting alot of those pesky fruit flies in my kitchen... wonder if they are biting him??? |
Might be fleas,,, my Bailey and Cat both have frontline on,,,Yet the other day I felt a flea on my arm!! ... they come in on your shoes, they are lowsy this year. Could be...... |
Roxy has been doing this lately too. She is constantly scratching her under arm pit area. And I have been find the little hair balls all over too. I don't think she has fleas though, I just put on the Frontline Plus about a week ago. I don't know what to do for her. I too have the pesty little fruit fly's from my house plants, I am wondering about them? |
When Jewles was little she lost a bunch of hair on her back. She didnt havve fleas or allergies. The vet tested her for mites and she didnt have that either. They never could find a reason for it but her hair grrew back and hasnt done it again. |
hair loss..(help) my sammy has lost a lot of hair on his back legs (thighs)and now going up his sides..he is also getting blisters on his tummy and even one on his thingie  and i cant get him to stop scratching..he has no fleas.. help someone know anything about this?? |
Bailey can be having an allergic reaction to fleas or any other bug. I think a visit to the vet is in order. Good luck and please keep us posted. |
