Questions about Taste Of The Wild food I am thinking of trying TOTW for my 5 month yorkie and 2 year old aussie. I would like to know if you have had any problems with this food. I am looking for a good food that I can feed both dogs and they will continue to have firm poops and no eye boogers. They are currently eating the same food, Nutro Natural Choice chicken, rice, & oatmeal for sensitive stomachs. The yorkie is on the puppy version and poops 4 or 5 times a day, my aussie is on the adult version and poops only once a day. Do yorkies usually poop more? I have had two chihuahua's and they both only went twice a day so I don't think it's just a little dog issue. Thank you in advance for your replys :) |
I have four that adore TOTW. No issues whatsoever. Poopwise...mine all go twice a day. I can tell you that rice and oatmeal ingredients are a filler and indigestible and what goes in...must come out. ;) |
I would avoid the one with fish meal in it.....Taste of the Wild is preserved with ethoxyquin, a potent cancer causer....I've done a thread on this..... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...thoxyquin.html |
Cosmo loved TOTW Pacific Stream until I found out about ethoxyquin.:( I also read though that it's used to preserve the fish but when cooked/processed into kibble it does not do any harm over time. I'm not sure about that so I stopped using it and now using NV Prairie rotation diet. |
I had bought a bag of TOTW for Jackson not too long ago but he barely ate it. It's funny, he LOVED the little kibbles when I got the sample bags in the mail so I went out and bought a bag (luckily, it was only around $10) but suddenly, he wasn't interested. I had to mix it in a lot with wet food and make sure all the kibbles had some wet food on it in order for him to eat it. Plus, hearing all this ethoxyquin stuff kind of worries me. So anyways... three days ago, we started Nature's Variety Instinct and he LOVES it! More than ANY kibble that he's ever eaten or tried. It's very good for them too. Protein is about 35% so it's still up there but not quite as high as the Orijen's or Evo's so I like that. He's really really loving it and I'm hoping this is a food we will stick with for a while. |
