| Malabsorption Syndrome HI, I posted a few days ago as Sick Yorkie. She is back from the vet, again, and on more meds. She is on Lasix 12.5 MG and Medrol . Also, eating a Cardiovascular canned dog food. So far, no signs of liver or gall bladder problems. Any more info on this disorder would be greatly welcomed. Thank you all! |

| For good answers you could go on line and talk to a Vet. at : Online Dog Veterinarians help with Canine Medical and Health Problems, Veterinary Questions. Vets Give Answers on Pet Retrievers, Labradors, Terriers, Poodles, Pugs and More I know they need a restricted fat diet, and highly digestible carbohydrates and high quality protein source. Not hard to do if you feed real food and not dog foods. I have alway home cooked. It's very safe and easy.

| This sounds just like Protein Losing Enteropathy to me.... Protein Losing Enteropathy in Dogs & Cats / Dogs Articles / Pet Articles / Televets.com Has your vet run a TLI, folate or cobalamine test? The cobalamine is important as your pup may need to be getting B12 injections to help get back to health. Regardless of the diagnosis, if getting them back to health requires a special diet, I would highly recommend consulting with a pet nutritionist rather than leaving it up to your vet as they do not have much information on nutrition other than the standard prescription diets. Special supplementation may also be recommended. A defininite start would be adding a quality probiotic as this will help get the GI tract to optimal conditions.

| Malabsorption syndrome HI, Thank you to everyone for your help. What is a good balanced home cooked diet for our yorkie. We have three of them and it would help if this diet would work with all three. Thanks again, Dianna |
