Bloodwork - Lymes Daisy had a small tick on her, on the top of her nose. I couldnt identify it so i brought it to the vet and they couldnt identify it. At the time I didnt have her on anything, I just treated my yard. I was told to come back in 6 weeks for bloodwork to check for Lymes. Im always paranoid and I said I wanted to get her checked. Even though she hasnt showed any symptons that I can tell and this week is the 6th week do you think I should get the bloodwork done or wait? Deep down I dont think that I can be ok with not knowing just because she doesnt show any symptons. I've read there are a few babies that have Lymes and being treated, which makes me alittle more nervous. Both now are back on Frontline since this. |
6 weeks! When Buddy was limping they checked him immediately, since this is a sign but he injured his leg. Also when they get their yearly they are checked on the spot. I was checked myself when I was bit by a bug then three weeks later. I dont understand the delay. If your baby has no sympthoms by now I would say she's ok. |
I thought 6 weeks was odd myself, but when I went online to research symptoms, most sites say that symptoms usually appear 2 – 5 months after your dog is infected. 95% of dogs that are exposed do not show any symptoms so that's why I've waited. |
I don't know where you live but here is a map showing where Lyme's disease is. Lyme Disease (Borreliosis) in Dogs |
