| How often should I feed 10 wk old pup? Pixie is 10 wks old and I have been feeding her at 6:30am, 11:30am, 4:30pm, 9:30pm and 2:30am. I've been weening her on wellness puppy soft food from hills a/d which vet perscribed. I find she is eating a heaping tsp each sitting. She also eats about a 1/4 cup of Hollistic Select small breed and puppy formula kibble throughout the day. However, she has been eating less lately and not showing a lot of interest in the food. I'm wondering if it is because the wellness is more filling or if I need to cut out a feeding or two. Any suggestions? |

| I free feed dry kibble leaving it so she can nibble all day, when she was a puppy wet food in the morning and the evening!

| Pixie has just started to eat kibble in the past week. I was introducing it to her so that I could eventually do the free feeding thing with her as I do that with my other dog Jack. I really don't think she is too fond of the kibble though. Sometimes she seems to just chow down and other times she turns her nose to it. I'm thinking about slowly introducing the Innova puppy kibble in with the hollistic select so that she wont get too bored with either of the flavours. Good or bad idea? Oh and the reason I was feeding Pixie so often was because the vet had ordered me to do so. He was worried about the hypogycemia. She however, has never had an episode. Thank goodness!! |

| I use hollistic select as well, its a good food and honestly where she is just a puppy I dont think she is bored.. I wouldnt mix food at this point if you do and she has a problem with one of them you wont know which one it is. Hollistic select is a good puppy food and has tiny kibble so I think she will be fine eating it, just leave it down and let her pick at it freely.. Im sure she prefers the wet food but if she his hungry she will eat the dry kibble and you want her to for her teeth. JMO that I would not mix foods this early incase of allergy or stomach upset you wont know which caused it Try putting parmisean cheese on the kibble it works

| Thanks for the advice! I'll keep her on the hollistic select and try the cheese. What do u think about cutting back on her soft food feedings though? She ate at 3:30am and as of 10:30 this morning has not touched anything yet. I'm beginning to think I should only feed her 3 times a day instead of the 5 times a day. I was thinking 6:30am, 2pm and 9:30pm soft food and having kibble available all day. What do u think? |
