| Question about food rotation Before I got Charlie, he was on a very poor diet made up of mostly supermarket brand dog food, but that was the least of his problems. At most times he was treated more as a nuisance instead of an actual family member. I had known him all his life and finally decided to ask the owner if I could have him even though I had only had experience with larger breeds (labs), and to my surprise she gladly agreed on the spot. I immediately switched him over a higher grade food but his belly needed to get use to it first, and now I know why the switch must be a gradual one. Well after some time on EVO, a friend of mine told me that the protein content in it might be too high for such a small dog, I asked my vet and she agreed. I gradually switched him over to Natures Variety Prairie chicken meal and brown rice medley, and he loves it. My main question is, should I switch him to canned or raw every couple of weeks/months or just alternate on the different kibble variety like it is stated on the bag? I know that it seems like a long ramble, but I really want to give him the best life that I can give him, after all the stuff that he went through. |
