| Ear Hair Pluck or cut? I have read that not plucking the hair causes infections and that plucking the hair causes infections. If I cut the hair, instead of plucking it, would that be the safest way to go? Penny has stinky ears, but the vet didn't see anything wrong with them. I am wondering if cutting the hair back in her ears would do the trick? |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The hair needs to come out completely. Cutting it isn't solving the problem. Sprinkle ear powder in her ear and it'll come out with a gentle tug. If you don't feel comfortable doing it...your vet or groomer can.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Ear powder - Ear Powder for Dogs and Cats I have never read about any problem with removing the hair in their ear canel. The problem lies with dirt and wax buildup in the ear which can lead to infections and ear canker.

| My sister used to breed, and she would put a little(I think she used baking powder) on her hands and would gently pull it out with her fingers |

| LOL whenever you see the hairs, it's best to get them right then I think, saves you from having so many to do at once |

| This sounds painful, I leave whatever hair is there alone. We have not had any problems with ear hair. Now that I think of it, Sncikers does not have much hair in his ear canal. Our vet has never advised plucking hairs out.

| Kayla suffers really bad with her ears. She's prone to infections due to the hairs that grow in there and then combined with the fact she has floppy ears. I've taken her to the groomer in the past to have them plucked but I have removed a few myself and it doesn't bother her in the slightest and she's a big wimp when it comes to pain so I guess she doesn't think that it hurts.
