| diatomaceous earth? I'm looking for an anti-flea product that is safe for all kinds of animals: I have my yorkie, 2 cats, and 4 parakeets in a small house. A friend of mine told me once about diatomaceous earth (I think that's how it's spelled!) and I've found it online and it's not expensive....but I'm concerned about the effect it would have on my birds. Everything I've read says that it's safe for all kinds of animals but none of them mentioned birds. (I'm not thinking about applying it to the birds or their cages or anything but was wondering about any dust that might be in the air.) I'm wondering if anyone here has used it or does use it? Does it work really well? It's flea season here in Texas and I have to do something soon or find a new home for my baby. Comments?? TIA. |

| *Bump* I'm curious about this too. I researched it a couple of years ago and actually bought and it's sitting in our garage in Alabama. I got worried, after I bought, it that I didn't really understand it's use and was afraid that it would hurt Toto. We have never had a flea where we live in Colorado but one trip to our home in Alabama and it's awful!!!

| Thanks! This is the site where I found the information! and it's chock full but I never found where it says anything about birds. Do you use the 'earth' in your dogs' food for de-worming? And how do you use it for fleas? rub it on, dust the carpet, all of the above?? I'm tired of fighting fleas already and the year is just beginning. On top of that, I'm probably going to be home less time next fall as I'm expecting to change jobs and will be doing more driving.... |
