| Salt on sidewalks/roads Its our first winter and I've read that the salt on the side walks are harmful to dogs paws. We do a lot of walking so I wondering if anyone had any advice on what you do to avoid this problem? I know I could buy shoes, but I'm leaving this for a last option. Thanks in advance! |

| I know Petco sells pet and environmentally safe salt. You could use that on your driveway...however, you never know what other people put down in front of their sidewalk. The safest bet would be the booties. You could always wash their little feet after you get done with your walk... to make sure the salt is off??

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Most dog places sell a vaseline like substance that you can put on their paws. It's totally natural and will coat their paws so they don't crack or blister from the salt. I also suggest wiping their paws when you take them inside to be sure that no little salt rocks have gotten between their little toes.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | My son and I we use Excel Paw Protector, we get it at Pet goods or any good pet store, it protectsf paws from, gravel, asphalt,( specially with his Alaskan Malamute) ice, snow, salt treated roads, hot pavements and all hard surfaces. it also helps provide grip on slippery surfaces. we been using it on Harry since we got him and Niko too. Niko is an alaskan Malamute and his Paws are very good in snow but crack with any salt. hugs, cArmen in nj |
