| what can i SAFELY add to dry food to make more appetizing? i have tried every dry food under the sun and miss buffey tires of them after about 2 days i just have not found a food she loves and wants to eat ... i cannot free feed her (because bentley is a huge piggy and would eat a 20lb bag of food if i let him ) and i can only give her about an hour in the mornings to eat because i have to leave for work ... i have even tried to smash up green tripe - she loves this - and add it into her food and she will will take each piece of food, suck the green tripe flavor off and spit it out i know some people will add some karo syrup to dry food but i wanted to avoid anything really sugary because i do not want her sugar levels to spike and then heaven forbid something happen while i was at work is there anything you can think of to add to her food that might make it more appetizing to her? maybe salmon oil? i might have to go back to feeding raw - she LOVES that....i just felt my kids were always so hungry on raw even though i always gave them more than i was supposed to for their age and weight...thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

| How about feeding canned? You can mix yogurt in the kibble (make sure it doesn't have any artificial sweeteners in it), cottage cheese (low fat and low sodium are best), boneless skinless chicken breast, etc.

| thanks crystal! i am jotting down all suggestions and will head to the grocery store after work today i am just worried if i use anything that she can easily pick out (like pieces of chicken or cottage cheese) she will only eat that and leave the food ... i really like the yogurt idea and will make sure to buy the plain, unflavored kind thanks so much for responding

| Lyn, try rice and chicken added to the kibble, you can even add some veggies. The kids here love it. The chicken I shred up into tiny pieces. With the rice added it makes it hard for them to just pick out the kibble as it kinda makes everything stick together. Make sure you mix it up real good otherwise they can pick out just the food that they are wanting. This is how I get mine to eat the kibble when they are not wanting to. It really fills them up and they love it and it is good for them.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You could add canned food (or just skip kibble and feed canned, period - healthier anyway ). Or, sprinkle with parmesan cheese - dog's usually love the pungent smell, plus it's cheese! Have you tried Orijen kibble?

| My biewer breeder just sent me some of this the other day, it comes in cubes, and you crush it and sprinkle it on their food. You can also use it to make chicken noodle soup, etc. She said it lasts a long time, and tootsie is eating so much better since sprinkling it on her food Mountain House® Freeze Dried Chicken (cooked and diced) |

| A little bit of canned pumpkin can be added to kibble, as odd as that might sound. Most dogs really love the taste of it, and it is nice to help regulate their digestion as well.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Dogs that only eat canned food have dental problems when they are older. The kibble helps with tartar. Most dogs like cheese, chicken, turkey, scrambled eggbeaters, yogurt, add these to the kibble for a balanced diet. |
