Purina Puppy Chow for a YORKIE
 
when i first took my dog home he eat alittle bit of the pet shop food that they normally gave him then he stop eating for a few days so they said to give him baby food. so i did and i know he cant stay on that so i try him back with the food he normally eats but he refuses to eat it. so i picked up some purina puppy chow and he seems to like it since he eats it. so i want to know if thats healthy food for a YORKIE. OR if not whats the best kind of food to get him to start eating.

Purina Puppy Chow isn't that good. It is only rated 1 star. I chose to feed Missy "Go Natural" Grain Free (rated 6 stars). I see alot of people on here recommend "Wellness" and "Orijen" (also rated 6 stars). Here is a link to Dog Food Reviews with all of the ratings. It's a very informative site. well i have a mix between a tea cup and a toy yorkie so would the go natural or the natures variety instinct be fine for him being that he is a smaller dog because i notice those food was for dogs atleast 50lbs?

First of all....welcome to YT! The site that was posted (above) will give you a good idea on what is good to feed your pup. ANY dog food that can be bought in a grocery or retail store is not going to be good food. Most of them have by-products in them and a lot of junk that isn't good for dogs....not just yorkies...any dog. I don't understand what you mean by a mix? were you told this by the breeder? Yorkies ARE a toy breed....there is no such thing as a tea cup...this is a term used when a puppy is very small...and....a lot of breeders use this the term "toy" and jack up the prices making people think they are getting something they are not...I do hope you didn't pay tons of money for this little one. I feed canidae, all stages, to both my girls. I know there has been talk about them changing the formula but, that was on for the lamb and rice kibble. The chicken kibble has not changed...Good luck finding a good food for your little one.

I have mine on Solid Gold Wee bits. It is very small in size. While it is not a 6 star food, it's a premium food.

They eat it and seem to like it.

I also feed Canidea all life stages. All 5 of my babies have never had allergies and have gorgous coats..OH by the way they are all Terriers...Good Luck and Welcome to YT..........LISSETTE..

You misunderstand the 50lb thing. The site states what the amount is that you feed a 50lb dog so you can compare the amount against the other foods. All the foods have different feeding amounts according to weight on the bag its self. You can also go to the web sites of the foods you would like to look at. The different web sites will also tell you were you can buy there food.
Also a lot of the 5 and 6 star foods are All life stages so are fine for a puppy. The bag will tell you how much to feed.

Hello, I have a 2 lb yorkie and she is really picky I have found that wellness is best for her it is a good quality food. I just took her to our feed strore and no one can belive how shiny and thick her coat is she is healthy and strong. My yorkies like welness super five mix and sometimes I buy another wellness food and mix it in so they dont get sick of it.
