Teeth My 17 month old Mollie has not lost her upper puppy teeth the canines the permanent ones came in beside them. I've looked at them and there is not additional build up or food stuck in them. I am going to have them pulled in a few months when the puppies are gone. I know that this can cause a problem health wise. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had this same problem and if they came out on there own or if you had to take them to have them pulled. Thanks for your input. Sheila |
Hi: Retained puppy teeth are generally pulled during spay/neuter at about 6 months or so. At 17 months, I would want them pulled, but if they're not causing any problems (be sure they're not eroding her lip, for instance) I'd follow my vet's advice. Good luck. CJ |

Thanks again. Sheila |
Indiana's bottom canines had come out and most of his other teeth ( he lost 4 in one day!) fell out on their own. The top canines didn't come out and the permanent ones were already coming down so when I had him neutered a couple weeks ago she pulled them while he was under. My vet said that this was pretty typical in Yorkies for some reason. |
Oscar was nine months old when he was neutered, and he had to have his three disiduous canines pulled. They would not have come out on their own. His situation was a little spendy because the teeth were well rooted in. I'm glad I had it done though because now I don't have to worry about future problems developing with his bite. Good luck! :) |
