What do you buy??
 
What brand food do you feed your Yorkie? Do you feed just dry or cwet, or both? What kind of treats do you use?

I feed beneful, but I think I'm going to switch cause I think they're allergic to it. I give liver snacks or veggies for snacks.

I feed Poppy Life's Abundamce for Puppies and the treats I give him are called Milk Bones. Oh and I only feed him dry food.

My girls all love the Life's Abundance kibble. They like the Gourmet Dental Treats and the pork hide chew bones from them too!!

Whatever you decided to feed, please read the ingredients.

You want make sure there is NO CORN, NO WHEAT OR SOY, AND NO BY-PRODUCTS. None of these ingredients are healthy for pets.

I offer the LIfe's Abundance on my website and have free samples if anyone wants to try it out.

My babies are both on Wellness. When I bought this bag I got 4 small cans of the wet for free. my babies ate one can but don't really care for it. I give them all kinds of diff. treats. I try to switch it up so they don't get tired of having the same treats all the time

I sell but also feed Life's Abundance. I also give their treats to my babies :) They are all doing very well on it.

I feed Wellness small breed dry and give Snausages or Pup-Peroni's as treats. I just got Yogurt Drops from our buddy and I think Lilly's addicted to them, haha.

i feed riley orijen puppy kibble & innova puppy wet food mixed. for treats i give him zekes mini naturals :)

i feed my puppy natural balance kibble and some canned......she does well on it and thehave small bites kibble for puppies!

Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance
 
We feed little Beatrice ,Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance allergy formula.When we brought her home she was on Eukaneuba, but she had alot of skin irritations from scratching.I read about sensitivities to food on YT ,to the corn and wheat and gluten and decided that it was probably her food that was making her so itchy all the time. So we went to Bark and Fitz and purchased the food that she's eating now.She loves it and the skin seems to be gatting better, she's not scratching as much and she loves the taste of it more than the other food, so I find she eats better.:thumbup:

I feed mine Canadae all life stages lamb and rice dry
as far as treats... i dont use a lot of treats...when i do i use plain cheerios or the yorkie yummies from chattismom :)

:aimeeyorkMy Murphy has always had a sensitive stomach, and I have tried different things but Innova Small Bites have been great for him. He loves it and his tummy stays upset free....so far so good

Did you know that the Natural Balance was part of the deadly pet food recalls from last year? It may be fine now but i personally wouldn't feed anything from a company that had recalls of any kind.

I forgot to write about the treats that we give Beatrice.We just bought the Iams Tartar treats[edible dental treats] that we give her once a week....it lasts her that long.Also for her regular treats we give her Natural Choice crunchy treats with real carrot....she loves these, and they also don't have corn or wheat or soy in them.
Other than that she gets a half of a boiled egg in the morning and a tablespoon of yogourt through the day.
Yesterday we went for brunch and she came with us, I gave her some watermelon and grapes, she liked those too.

Grapes are toxic to dogs as well as raisins.

We feed ours Welliness, Inovia, Evo. I just give them a change and they do great on these. They are wet and then I leave out the Welliness dry for them. They snack on cherrios, carrots, apple. They get a bully stick once a week, which they love. Also, I don't know about watermelon but grapes are toxic to dogs. Please be real careful.

I just read the recall info and it was just the venison products specifically recalled because of the rice protein in the product.The venison formulas were the only food that contained this ingredient. Thank goodness the formula we are feeding is the potato and duck.

How ever, I will be very aware of any abnormal behaviour or reactions of any kind.Afterall the reason we switched in the first place was her skin sensitivity.Which we were pretty sure was the corn and wheat content.I had set out to buy Nature's Variety Instinct, but the people at Bark and Fitz recomended the food that we bought because it's especially for dogs with food allergies or sensitivities...oh well, we'll give it a try. She sure ilikes it better than the eukaneuba...she actually eats this stuff LOL

I only feed dry food and I have her on Eukanuba Yorkshire right now. The list says it has barley and grain sorghum in it but it doesn't list corn etc. The first ingredient is chicken and fish oil etc. Is it still bad due to the barley and grain sorghum? She has a beautiful coat and doesn't itch, maybe I should keep looking? Her favorite treat is Canine Carry Out Chicken Grillers. The adoption foster mom was giving them to her before we adopted her.

I didn't realize that grapes were toxic, I thought it was just the dry version like raisins or other dried fruit, thanks again for the tip.See, this is why I love this site...I am learning so much :)

I just read the list of harmful foods and thank goodness I only gave her 1 grape [a small on at that] mind you it said in the 10 case reported the dogs had ingested 9 ounces to 2 pounds of grapes. None the less, Beatrice ate her first and last grape on sunday :D

I feed them Artemis fresh mix but it's hard to find... My dogs seems to like this brand. The wet food I give them is from Trader Joe's the chicken ones. The treats are bully sticks and dried chicken breast.

Is there a sticky of harmful foods for yorkies on here? I need to check... I am interested to hear they eat yogurt, apples, cheerios, etc. I never would have thought of those as treats for my dog. I guess I am programed to buy 'dog' treats! Thanks everyone for the info and tips. I must have read the ingredients on every dog food in 3 stores, finally setting on the natural balance because it was all natural ingredients, not corn and by-products. Unfortunately I was visiting my mom when I bought it and where I live you have to drive a ways to get any food that Wal-Mart doesn't sell. I guess I could check the farm supply stores...

Our farm/tractor supply carries alot of dog food that is considered good. The only problem is they cater to the sporting/hunting breeds so the food is big chunks in 50 pound bags. :eek:

I also feed Artemis Fresh Mix (small breed), which I order from PetFoodDirect. Artemis is not readily available in pet stores but it is an excellent food. I rotate between Artemis and Canidae ALS.

The treats I use are Wagatha's, Canidae Snap biscuits and chicken/rice balls.
