| Raw-How's the poo? I homecook for my two girls. I have seen the people who feed raw and they seem very pleased with it. I make lean ground beef with Orzo and green peas for my girls. I supp. Calcium and missing link and give pet tabs multi vitamin every day. My goal was to avoid mushy poo that sticks to their bottom. They are both going well now. Should I keep doing what Im doing? I want to make sure they are getting adequate nutrition. (I used to use brown rice, but Baby Chloe didnt digest it well, so I switched to Orzo which is a semolina pasta) Does Raw cause bad poo? Mine only go 2X a day and it is firm. Im afraid to mess with success, but dont want to deprive them of something essential.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | With raw, the poos become teensy-tiny, non-smelly, nice and hard - and they almost turn to powder if left in the yard - bc there just isn't any volume to them, all the food was absorbable so there is very little pooped out/left behind. So, actually one of my FAVORITE benefits of raw is the POO, lol !

| Poo? What poo? It's virtually non-existent with my kids, who eat a completely raw diet. Side note: I don't trust Pet Tabs. A MSN article stated they contain lead. A vitamin a day may do more harm than good - Diet and nutrition - MSNBC.com Quote:

| Going Raw Tonight!!! Tonight will be the girl's first raw meal. I have no doubt that Baby Chloe will eat it. She is a gulper and a pig. Zoeybear may be the challenge. My local feed store only had chicken or beef medalions. I went with beef. The girls have been getting groung beef, so maybe that will be a good transition. Wish us luck!!

Good luck! Jamie's on NV Raw too and has tiny poos. LOL! Don't get discouraged if one doesn't LOVE raw the first time. The first time I put it down for Jamie he sniffed it, looked at me crazy and walked away. The second time I put it down for him at breakfast. He gobbled it all down in 3 seconds and then 20 minutes later threw it all up. (It was too cold for his empty tummy to eat that fast.) Later that day he ate it a little slower and has loved it ever since.

| Switching Lucy to raw was the best thing I ever did (thanks Ann and Michelle!). She only poops once a day and it's tiny and dries up very quickly.

| What do I do now???? They are "looking at me like Im crazy" right now!!! It is the first thing Baby Chloe has refused to eat. That dog has eaten poo before for petes sake!! What do I do? Give them the old food then try again at breakfast, or am I supposed to withhold the old food until they give in? I don't want to be mean.

| OK, I felt guilty and gave them the homecooked food they are used to. I will try again at breakfast. Am I screwing this all up???

| They refused to eat it again. My dogs think I am insane. They just look at me and refuse to eat the raw. DH said I need to withhold the homecooking until they get hungry and eat it. I don't know if I can do that. They are giving me the sad and hungry face. I really want them to switch.

| I have no answer but am anxious to see waht others have to say. I got a trial pack of Primal raw medallions for Topper and he really liked the beef and the lamb. So when I went back to get more they were out of beef so I went with the lamb. He hasn't touched it since. I keep offering it to him twice a day but when he won't eat it I give in and get out his old food, EVO venison. I am at a loss because he really seemed to like it when we first tried it.

| Let dogs train us??? I know you feel guilty - but you are teaching your pooches to train YOU instead of the other way around. Our vet once told me that dogs can do fine for an entire week without food as long as they have water - while I wouldn't advise going that long, your babies WILL give in - its truly up to you! My furkids have poo that I joke looks like rabbit or hamster poo. Its teeny and dry! I love raw feeding!

I know I need to be tough. My DH said the same thing. It is so hard. I just spend every day attending to their every need, now I have to give tough love. Im going to try again tomorrow at breakfast!
