| Do I Need to Worry? I am new to this forum and a relative new yorkie mom. My Diva is almost 6 months old and I have noticed lately that she is shivering or having slight tremors. She seems fine otherwise, but I am still concerned. She has these slight tremors even though we know that she isn't cold or stressed. As I have said, she seems OK otherwise. She is eating and eliminating. Please help, is this normal? Should I seek the help of a vet?undefined She is schedule for spaying on Feb. 2, should she be checked out before this operation? I would appreciate any advice that you have. Thank You. Diva's Mom |

| You could mention your concerns to the vet - will he do blood tests before spaying? What weight is Diva? I have a 6 month old girl too called Gizzie Chavi (and Gypsy Rose 18 months). Gizzie shivers and shakes a little bit when cold or excited, don't think Gypsy Rose ever did but she is a bigger yorkie. Gizzie is 3.9lbs and I think these smaller ones do this on occasions but I'd get her checked anyway. Do tell me more about her as she's Gizzie's age!! Ana xx |

| Thanks Thanks Everyone, I am so grateful for finding YorkieTalk.com Forum! I appreciate all of your comments and suggestions. Diva will be 6 months old on Feb. 8th. She weighs about 3 lbs. I will find out if the vet intends on doing any blood tests before her operation. What had me concerned was that lately I was noticing these tremors when she wasn't cold or stressed. It seems as though she has them every few seconds at times. This does not occur all of the time but quite often. She lives with my husband and myself in a quiet atmosphere. Could it be that she needs more socialization? We live in Ohio and the weather is very cold now. Can anyone suggest a good book on Yorkie care?? Thanks in advance for your help. |

| My yorkies do not do the shaking but I have a female dalmation that is 11 1/2 that has since she was a pup. There is nothing wrong with her and she is a very calm dog. I think sometimes some dogs just do that. Lacey sits and her legs shake and sometimes her body but not all the time. |

| One of my yorkies shivers when it rains.. Sometimes I don't even know its raining and see her shivering and look outside and sure enough its raining.. Try to see if there is some outside sound or something that you can connect it to.. It could be an airplane or anything we take for granted. |

| The shivering is probably nothing serious! Biggie shakes/shivers whenever I'm getting ready to leave to go somewhere [IE: putting on my coat or getting out my keys]. Biggie just knows! My boyfriend always jokes that it's just an act for attention...just so I won't leave hehe. He also shivers when he's in the car. I think Biggie likes being in the car because whenever I open the car door he's the 1st one in! Diva's shivering could be related to something like that?! Maybe she's nervous or scared like other's suggested?

| Lvgirle, your dog is so cute! How big is he? Maddie shakes sometimes... scares me, but there is nothing wrong with her. She should be 12lbs (she's overweight). I haven't noticed my puppy shiver, except for when he's cold or upset because I made him take a bath. |

| Biggie and I thank you for the complement! He's just turned 1 year old [1-11] and he's about 4.5-5lbs.

| Jennyj45 .... our Toto does that also! She is deprived of certain socialization ... other dogs for example! We have a very quiet lifestyle and she shivers when she is excited, stressed, etc. She loves people and always shivers at first, but after a few minutes she is all over them! It isn't fair, I know, for them not to be exposed to other animals, but we don't know what to do about it! We don't know people who have pets except big, spoiled, moody cats!! We also never argue or speak in angry voices in our house so naturally she gets upset if she hears that somewhere ... i.e. ... on a flight recently, there was an angry drunk man across the isle from us and when he spoke in a loud angry voice, it made Toto cry! I felt so sorry for her ... she had to stay in her carrier under the seat but I could hear her crying her soft little baby cry and it broke my heart! I felt like punching him in the mouth!! I wanted to cheer when two big Denver policeman came on the plane and arrested him! That's probably why your little Diva does it ... not being used to loud noises, etc. Toto is as healthy as she can be so we know it's not a health problem! If you get any good solutions, please let me know!
