| temeral p... My little yorkie that is 7 lbs has bad nasal allergies. I would be very hesitant to give her the temeral P as it is a steroid. My vet prescribed chloraphenamine. I would not give a dog steroids unless you absolutely had to. Just IMO. |

| Add My Pup to the Growing List Johnny's miserable and making us feel awful watching him itch most everywhere...head and sides and chewing on his feet on and off. He's on a limited ingredient diet and I don't want to give him any more of that Temeril, not just because it's a steroid but because he acts differently and sure does pee a lot more. He's been getting baths in cortisone shampoo, without much relief, and also tried oatmeal shampoo and conditioner without much relief either. I don't know what else to do. Any tips?

| Itching, rashes, food allergies.... Just went through a terrible allergic reaction that I wanted to tell you about. First, Kasey (3 yrs) had a gastro illness that caused severe vomiting and diarrhea, so much so that we had to go to the emergency vet over Labor Day weekend. He gave her the equivalent of pepsid pills for acid, re-hydrated her with an IV, and suggested either boiled chicken or boiled hamburger and rice. Kasey didn't seem interested in the chicken but she downed the hamburger. She'd never had that before, and seemed to love it. Within 24 hours she began itching with great intensity, all over. Stayed up all night. Poor baby! Her skin looked like it was sunburned -- it was bright red. We took her off of the hamburger and stopped the pills, and the itching stopped right away -- and the redness went away over three days. Vet said she's likely allergic to hamburger. She's always been prone to itchiness, but now that I'm vigilantly checking to be sure there's no meat in her diet, she seems less itchy. I'll try introducing it once more later on to see for sure if that's what it is. (Doc said that it's unlikely the Pepsid caused it.) Also, as for dog food brands, I found this site really helpful. Made me realize that the foods made "just for Yorkies" might not be the best for ours. Kasey eats Artemis, which gets great ratings. Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble I found this link on Yorkietalk. Hope my story helps someone out there!

| temeral p Ok- My sadie has developed bad itching and her skin is all red and she has lost hair on both sides of her rib cage from scratching. She is currently on a home cooked diet consisting of buffalo, potato and zucc/squash. vet gave us simplecef abx for 2 wks- she just finished that but also he gave us temeral p. I never wanted to give this but it does help her after giving it for the first 3 days. Still her skin is red so she has got to be allergic to the food or something in particular. I am ready to lose my mind bc we've been having problems for over a year with her with various issues from pancreatitis, losing protein urine, possible IBD and now allergies. :-( Renee |
