| Allergies :( I feel so bad for Layla because I just can't seem to figure out what is causing her allergies. I've been told for her whole life that it's food allergies. The first vet had me put her on Medi-Cal Hypoallergenic food.... but she still got ear infections constantly and was always biting her nails. Then I moved and couldn't find Medi-Cal food, and I found out that this food wasn't the greatest, and I had a period of switching between a few other foods... Royal Canin, Nutro... nothing changed. Then I had her on Orijen 6 Fish and she seemd to not be SO bad anymore. She still chewed her paws occationally and scratched at her ears. For the past few months I haven't been able to get the 6 Fish so she's been eating just Orijen Adult for about a month... and it seems like she is CONSTANTLY chewing her little feet, and scratching at her chin. When she lays down on my I scratch her back and she always stretches her head out like "Ohhhh yeah that feels GOOD!" But on the plus side, since switching to Orijen she hasn't had any ear infections. I want my baby to stop itching but I'm not sure how to go about it. She seems to have at least some reaction with EVERY food. From looking at the ingredients I'm not really sure what it could be... Potato maybe? Is that a common food for allergies?

| chicken, beef, corn, grain, flax. i think thats mostly why it got a little better when you were on orjien fish because it has none of these. also while feeding that (which you can buy online) maybe you should buy some fish oil or salmon oil for her coat.

| Thanks! I think the chicken in the new food could be the culprit. I had been using Missing Link in her food for awhile but I've kind of forgotten about it! I wonder why she's still itchy on 6 Fish though. I will be going to our local pet store on Friday for a grooming appointment so I'll see if they have any in stock yet. The only other place in my city that sells it for sure is Petland, but I refuse to support them! I may have to resort to buying it online.

| Lucy drove us both absolutely crazy with allergies. I tried every food on the market and nothing worked! We finally made the switch to raw and she is like a new dog.

| Reese has the same allergy problems...especially her ears, chin and armpits. We had her allergy tested and it came back to be a ton of environmental and a lot of foods. The main foods we have to avoid are: any poultry, eggs, flax, barley, soy, oats, and corn. This made it very hard to find a food. I give her orijen 6 fresh fish on the weekends and bravo frozen raw. The NV was a better quality, i thought it looked better, but it had too many ingredients that I needed to keep her away from. Recently I had to put her on Temaril P, which has a low dose steroid and antihistamine in it. I hated to do it, but with the change in the weather her allergies were acting up again. I would try the Bravo if you can find it. Not to many ingredients! Good luck!

| She does also have allergies to environmental stuff, although I've never found out what exactly! Just over a year ago I came home from work to find her with blood all over her face. Obviously I freaked out and I took her to the vet immediately and she told me that she must have been breathing in something she was allergic to, and she was scratching her ears and head and eyes so bad that she actually drew blood! But that hasn't happened since. I wonder if there might be a cleaner or something I'm using that might be doing this too...

| I feel like such a bad mom! I checked ingredients on everything Layla has been eating and realized I never checked her treats... I've been feeding her cheerios since FOREVER and she absolutely loves them.... and now I see they have corn starch! Does anyone have suggestions of easy mess-free treats that won't make her allergies flare up?
