Remedies for anxiety in the car? I have posted before about Tucker's extreme anxiety when travelling. I honestly wish that I never had to put him into a situation which stresses him out so badly, but it is imperative that he make the 45 minute, one-way trip to my parents house once every 1-2 weeks. He LOVES my parents house because they have a yorkie as well, but the trip to get there is horrible. I have tried all of the suggestions about getting him comfortable with the car, but I really don't think he's every going to enjoy travelling. He almost hypervenilates and his little heart beats way to fast for the entire trip. I'm really worried he will seriously make himself sick. Has anyone tried some sort of "calming" medicine for travel? I saw that 1-800-petmeds has one that is not a sedative (sedatives scare me), but I'm scared to try anything because I definitely don't want to hurt him. I would really appreciate any advice. |
I've heard good things about Rescue Remedy. My two like the car so I haven't tried it, though. |
I am anxious to see any replies as Topper doesn't travel well either. Gizmo, RIP, was a great traveler and loved the car so I have no expereince with this. Poor Topper pants so bad that his front is completely soaked by the time we get anywhere and he won't use the bathroom when we stop on long trips. |
I have 3 girls and 2 of them get really anxious whilst in the car. Omg they whine and pant and shake so much it scares me. I to would love to hear of some remedys. |
Oooh, ooh - what about that new DAP stuff? The stuff that gives off a calming odor - you can get a collar. I'm sure you can get it many places - but I found one here, so you can read about it: http://www.petrx.com/browseproducts/...og-15-25-.html |

Where would I get Rescue Remedy? I googled it and there was a site that offered calming creams, etc for people and pets. Is that the right site? It also confused me though because there was some sort of chart to go by to determine what kind of flower extract your dog needed based on its behavior. |

When Rusty was younger, he cried and whined and was so anxious. That ended when he got a carseat and was strapped into it. I guess he felt afraid not being in a car seat. Maybe he didn't like my driving...All of them are different though. |
