| please help... I'm so worried...how much to feed my puppy I have a 12 week old yorkie that weighs 2 pounds. She is a great eater. She over ate my other dogs food 9A yorkie also) and wound up in the er vet! Soooo... the vet says feed her 4 times a day. I think she need a bit more because the last feeding she goes from around 10:00 to 6:00 in the morning. I feed about 2 teaspoons a feeding of wet food. the problem is she gets this very full tummy and then I worry about bloat (That can be fatal in dogs) I am not sure if the fat belly is from over eating or if she is just a chub when she eats! I am so worried about her and i want to give enough food with out winding up back in the er again!!!! Please help me!!!!!

| Mine have always been free fed, up until a few mos. back, when I went to putting the food down when I get up in the morning, and then pulling it back up around 5:00 each night..the youngest one is now 5 mos. She likes her puppy food in the morning, but, then the rest of the day, she eats the other dogs food, which is what she will be getting switched over too once her puppy food is gone.. |

| I just feed her one and a half teaspoons. She was constipated from the food the vet had her on, but now that she's pooping more her tummy is going down! What a worry this is. I love her but I almost feel like I want her to get bigger fast!!! I am a worrier any way, this is so scary for me.

| I feed Murfee dry kibble and leave it down for him all the time. I've done this since we got him 4 years ago. When he was little I used to sit on the floor with him and feed him one kibble at a time....we bonded

| If you don't want to free feed her, then I would fill her bowl and stand in the room with her until she's full..she will stop eating when she's done..Mine I get a kick out of..I put her puppy food down in the morning, she eats a few kibbles, then jumps up at my leg, that means she wants me to put some of it out of her bowl on to the floor, them she eats like that for awhile, then she puts her paw back on my leg again, that means I have to throw her food for her..she's just such a joy and so funny... |

| the problem is Sadie over ate Chewy's food...(Chewy is an adult yorkie) We had to rush her to the er vet because her tummy was SOOOOO BIG! They thought she had bloat. When a dog gets bloat their stomach can flip or twist inside. It can aslo sprit or rupture!!!! They most times die when this happens. She had to have exrays, an ultrasound, and blood work. She wound up ok but it was horrible because a normal big dog would just not eat for 12 hours or so. But you can't do that with a yorkie. So we had to keep feeding her even though she was so full!!!! A 1/4 teaspoon or wet food every hour!!!! Then the food she had to use constipated her soooo she was eating and not pooping!!!! Her belly felt like a blown up balloon!!! she seems to be going poop more and now her belly feels better. Free feeding her the other day made her tummy feel rather big again!!! So i think she is eating more then she should be. The vet told me her stomach was the size of a walnut! Can this be true?
