Wild Fruit We have a pear tree in our backyard, and I recently found Sophie chewing/eating one of the pears. It was about the size of a golf ball, so not fully developed. We don't use any pesticides in our yard. I'm thinking it couldn't hurt her, but I thought I'd see if anyone had any comments.

I sure hope they are safe....... I think the pears are safe.......I would think if they really 'ate' one that was not fully ripe it may give them a belly ache.....just like a kid (grown-ups are too smart for that)...... In my yard I have 3 pear trees.....3 apple trees......2 GIANT fig bushes (which will be gone by the end of the day....I hate them)......2 GIANT pecan trees.....(another 15 pecan trees outside the fence).......and a MONSTER scuppernong (sp?) vine....(like grapes)....... I know grapes are not good and I intend to watch over the scuppernong thing closely.......any of my other dogs would get the grapes in their mouth...chew until they got the juice and leave the tough skin and middle.... I'm more worried about the pieces of gummy worms and cookies the grand-kids drop!!!!

Thanks for the reply. Your yard sounds yummy. I don't think she actually ate any, or much, of it. I guess we'll see if she starts complaining of an upset stomach. So, about these fig bushes. I don't think I've ever seen one. It sounds good to eat. Are they? Did you say it was an ugly bush? ha Are they like dates?
