| Thinking about cutting Emma hair So I’ve been wrestling with the idea of cutting Emma’s hair into a puppy cut or modified schnauzer cut. Emma will turn 5 in February and she’s had full coat since so you can imagine how this is a challenge for me. It’s not terrible to maintain but in between grooms , it takes me bout an hour to do her hair once a week. Not too bad when you think of it but I know I’ve been busy with work and baths are more like 2.5 weeks apart. Also she’s been getting the Pimple like cysts (vet told me it’s common and don’t worry just watch) and the hair sometimes makes it hard to see them . Im so torn .

| IMO the best time to have had her shaved down would have been in the spring or summer, warmer weather, give her body a chance adjust to the shorter cut. If you decide to do it it should be now while we still have a few weeks of warmer weather. Although I love full coat ,puppy cut is so much more easier to maintain. I keep Cody in a puppy cut year round, his face I have fringes on the ears, full mustache and beard, his top knot is a pony tail. Bath time is 20 minutes including hair drying (hair is not 100% dry, but dry enough). My groomer uses a #7 blade for summer and #5 for winter. Winter he goes to groomer every 6 weeks, summer every 5 weeks. I love the look of the puppy cut. For your first cut I would suggest not cutting as short as I do so you don't go into full shock lol, until you get use to seeing Emma in a short cut, you can always go shorter. Hair grows back, for a full to the floor length it could take 2 years or longer depending how fast Emma's hair grows. I would keep her face full and keep the top knot, I myself do not like the look of a fully shaved face and ears, you can always have that cut shorter later if that's what you would like. It's a very big and tough decision to make, good luck I have attached a photo of my guy.

| Natalia's Pet Beauty Salon - Photo Gallery This is the look I’m going for from my groomers website . I agree that I should do it now vs later. That’s the cut i had for Troy and really liked it. Her appointment is next week so I have some time. Emmas hair is floor length now and I usually don’t keep it that long . Instead of a shave i may just cut the hair a few inches to see if that gives me some relief .

Hi there, I suspect cutting it a few inches will make a big difference. I preferred Katy's face and top knot long, and 12 length, up to 3/4 length on her body. Puppy cuts, too, make for adorable yorkies. --KatysMom | |

| Emma got groomed today . I couldn’t bring myself to cut it all off so she just got a trim so the flowing floor length is right below her “knees” . I expect this will help some. Come bath time next week pray I don’t get tired of the blow dryer.

| Quick pic Here’s Emma, still in coat , sitting pretty. I love after she’s groomed because the coat seems to be refreshed and easier to maintain .

| I love Emma's new do, she looks just adorable. It takes time to adjust to her new cut, and as you said, hair goes back.
