| bathing blues Hi. My first post here. So, I have had my baby for over a year (last Christmas). I give Buddy baths about 2 times a week. However, it is not fun. I have given baths to him since he was mine at 3 months. He acts like I will hurt him or something. He cowers down in the shower. I use a hand held nozzle. When he was smaller (he is now 5 pounds) I would put him in the sink, but he would try and escape. It is frustrating. Any tips??? I walk him all the time, play with him... just not a fun time at bath time. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I know the hand held shower thing helped Aiden get over the blues. I know my sister in law would actually put her bathing suit on and get in with Lexi when she would bath her,and it helped. My babies hated the sink..too small. Good Luck.

| Mine are 4 and still hate bath time so I dont know if it gets any better. They do get used to the routine though. Something I do is put a towel in the dryer and warm it up for them.

| Welcome to YT! I think 2 times a week is an awful lot of baths -- Right now in winter mine might get one every 2-3 weeks, unless they are dirty, the rest of the yr it is 1-2 weeks. I do it a tub, yep, I'm leaning over but my tub is high enough they can't jump out and rather than a spray nozzle I use a huge plastic cup that I just fill with water repeatedly and rinse with. I have placed them under the nozzle - definitely they are not fans of it, but the cup they do not mind so much - it doesn't make noise and there is not all that pressure behind it

| Bathing more than once a week is really hard on their skin. As far as liking the bath none of mine (5) have ever loved getting a bath no matter how many years they have been getting them |

| I agree that 2 times a week is way too much, and maybe his skin is getting sore from it? Do you put a towel or non slip bathmat in the bottom of the bath to stop your pup from sliding about? Molly doesnt like the nozzle thing unless is it on very slowly. I guess if it is very powerful it might hurt a little pup. |

| Two times a week is too often I think. Are you making sure the temperature of the water is comfortable?

| Snoopy is not a fan of bath time either. We always have 2 people, and that helps. We also bought a sink protector mat--kinda rubbery, for the bottom of the sink. And the same kind of thing that goes over the divider in the double sink--it has suction cups on the sides to keep it in place. He puts his front paws on that, and that helps for some reason. We just try to be fast and get it over with.
