| How did I ever live without Cowboy Magic? Someone suggested Cowboy Magic for Abby's tangles here quite awhile ago and I thought...ah, it probably is good, but won't really get the tangles out like I need them to....WRONG! It really is MAGIC! It melts the tangles! I swear, had I known how good it really is, I would have bought some the day before I brought her home! I thinned her coat yesterday and bathed her today and when I was brushing her I would put a dab of CM on any tangles I found and they would disappear! I'm sold!!!!!!!

| I bought mine at a store here called, Tri-State Vet and Pet Supply. It is for horses, but works wonders on tangles for dogs. It smells good too! It smells like baby powder

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | When Joey was a puppy he got a sticker in his hair that made a nasty mat, I was so glad people recommended this product, and I had some on hand. I don't know how it works, but you can just use your thumb and forefinger in a circular motion around the matted area, and it comes out. We occasionally had problems under the arms after wearing clothes, and I would use this before the bath because once wet, mats are harder to remove. His coat is now silky, and I don't use it often, but for cotton coats, it must be a godsend. I got mine on e-bay, but I'm told some Petsmarts carry it.

| I just came to this forum to post almost the exact same thread about Cowboy Magic. I, too, finally bought some and I love it. Not only does it take out the matts and tangles, it leaves their coat so soft for days afterwards. I thought I was going to have to shave my Molly down because of her coat texture, but now I don't. I also bought it at a feed store. If you go to their site, you can find out where it is sold near you.

| Does this work better than spraying the tangle/mat with a mixture of conditioner and water? The nearest store to me that carries it is an hour away. |

If your pup only gets tangles and not mats regular conditioner would probably be ok, however if he's prone to matting, this works better. There are many stores that sell it online.

| Is this a cream , oil or gel? If it comes in a variety . . which one should I get? My little girl has long hair and our biggest problems are on her belly , under her arms and on her legs. |

It's kind of like a clear gel, but thinner, its primary ingredient is Cyclomethicone, look for the product that says "Detangler & Shine." Some people use a small dab after the bath, especially those with cotton coats. I found it more useful to use it before the bath to get any tangles out before bathing. If I used it after, he looked too oily, even though I used a tiny amount. Just depends on your dog's coat.

| It does work great. Feels a lot like silicone. It just seems to unwind the mat and yes, I always brush the girls and look for any matting "before" a bath, which is recommended. I also use the Cowboy Magic any other time I find a mat. I get it in a 4 oz. tube for $10.00, but it lasts for months even with my three.
