My Granddog, Bailey, needs your prayers....

He had a very serious hip operation but things go worse do to the area in his back where they gave him an epidural. It paralyzed him where he couldn't use his back legs. They had to do another operation. He's not doing so well, but we are praying.

My son's yorkie, Bailey, suddenly had a terrible seizure yesterday. My son and daughter in law found him on the floor and he was a mess. They called and I met them at the vet. By the time I got there, Bailey was not able to do anything but lift his head a bit when he heard my voice. He was transferred to the specialists that I use in Houston. He has some clear neurological deficits and the thought at this point is a stroke. He will remain hospitalized in their ICU. He was seen by the neurologist, but because he also had a very low heart rate and hypertension, he was kept in medical for an evaluation. On Monday he will be transferred to Neuro.
When the hospital called last night, he was stable. We will be visiting him today.

Bailey is continuing to improve. They said that he was walking all over the unit today and that he comes to them when they call him by name! He does still have neuro deficits but they are better!
They do not have visitation on Sunday unless a pup is critically ill so we will not see him until tomorrow.
The vet did say that she is fairly certain he will be discharged tomorrow after being seen by the neurologist.

That is very good news! I hope Bailey can come today. How old is he? Was the vet able to determine the cause of the stroke?

He is 12 years old. At first they thought it was because of his heart because his heart rate was very slow and irregular. They no longer think that was the cause because over the weekend he has no longer had any cardiac changes and his ultrasound and blood work are all normal. Often they don't really know what causes a stroke in a dog.
