| Sending prayers... a bit late (sorry I just saw this), but if nothing else they can be for a speedy recovery! I hope he's doing well. |

| Thinking of you and your son. I hope the surgery was successful, that your heart feels lighter, and that your mind is able to rest easier. I will keep both of you in my prayers. |

| Thanks so much for all the prayers and good thoughts! Y'all are amazing! Dustin did very well with his surgery. The doc was able to repair both injuries and Dustin was one tough kid! Everyone kept telling us this was a very painful surgery but Dustin was doing well and not complaining at all. He even turned down the nerve block they offered as extra post-pain relief. He said he did not like the sound of a needle in his neck. But around 10 pm tonight the pain started in with a vengeance. He decided to go ahead and take some pain pills. I know he will have a rough couple of days but hope the pain subsides after that. Continued prayers for a smooth recovery are welcomed! I am so relieved the surgery is done. It was outpatient surgery but any time you go under general anesthesia it is a little scary to me. I really do appreciate every one of you! I have been blessed with knowing all of you! You have all enriched my life!

| Thanks so much for the update on Dustin's surgery. Hope his pain stays at a minimum today and glad all went well yesterday. Also hope you were finally able to get some sleep last night.

| Debra, just saw this. There is nothing worse than your baby (and I don't care how old he is) going under anesthesia. Prayers for a speedy recovery. Glad the surgery went well.

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Glad Dustin is doing well. Tell him he will heal much faster if he takes at least enough pain medication to let him get rest. I tried the stoic "I can take it" route after my last surgery because I don't like to feel out of it, but my doctor gave me a heart-to-heart about the importance of controlling pain. It's not a sign of weakness take PRESCRIBED meds when they're necessary. Hope you are getting some rest now that the surgery is over! |

| Debra, How did I miss this post and of course you never mentioned it prior to the surgery. I'm glad all has turned out good, but I can imagine the stress you were going through. But, you just kept plugging along and never letting on.

| Boopster -- I did tell him he can actually heal faster if the body does not have to contend with pain. He didn't think he needed it at first (think there was some after-surgery numbness going on there). But after the pain really started in, he was happy to take his pills. Mary -- Sorry I did not mention it earlier. I think I stayed on yorkie matters trying to NOT think about it. I was more worried than he was. He just saw the long range of finally getting his problem taken care of. The doc said he could not believe he had been dealing with it since the injury October 30th! I think the doc he was seeing near his college was more into sending the players back to the coach ready to play and downsizing any problem. But he never even did the MRI which is what showed the completely torn labrum in addition to the separated shoulder. The separated shoulders are sometimes allowed to mend on their own and the person is left with a bump on their collarbone. But since the labrum HAD to be fixed, the doc went ahead and fixed it too. Everyone's prayers and good wishes -- THANKS so much. I am a huge believer in the power of prayer and I know that is making his recovery smoother. I appreciate you all so very much! I have been VERY busy playing nurse the last couple of days, but tonight he felt well enough to leave the house. A friend picked him up & they went off to see a basketball game. I will still have to drive him up to school this weekend, but after that he should be good to go. Tough kid! I made it through the other two with no surgeries or broken bones, but he has made up for it -- all sports injuries except the tonsils. But it never takes away his enthusiasm for the game. That boy LOVES football!
