newbie....my yorkies ears don't stand up 2 Attachment(s) This is my first post on here, but my yorkie's name is Harley and he is 1 year and 2 months old. He is the best dog I have ever owned. He is 13 pounds and his ears flop over. He is cute as a button, but larger than the stardard yorkie. |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! Your Harley is a doll. Love his sweet face. :) |
....and he is as adorable as all heck!! lol Welcome to YT!! as you can see in my avatar my Olivers ears never stood either! Not for one minute!! :D but i love him just the way he is!! Your babies are sweet!! ;) |
thank you :) he has two big sisters and i love the fact that they can all play together. he is a wonderful addition to our family. i would love to get him into some agility courses. he loves to play fetch and he makes the most amazing catches. he keeps us all entertained. |
Harley is so precious!! And he has a friend with the same ears too. Perhaps he is just trying to fit in!!! ;) |
my girl is 8 weeks old. The breeder I got her from said that she had floppy ear syndrome and that is why I got her at a discounted price. I love her little ears! After reading online about this "syndrome" I guess it does exist! I also read that it could take up to 6 months for the ears to stand, if they don't.. they have this so called syndrome. My girl is only 8 weeks old, I am happy she is part of my life.. even if she might have floppy ear syndrome! :) |
i use to work as a vet tech and the yorkie i bought had floppy ears but i wanted them to stand so the vet who was a past breeder of yorkies told me to tape them up for a week then take the tape off for a couple of days then tape them again?(this was because his ears were big but he grew into them lol).... but this only works for puppies who are 8 weeks to about 16 weeks old because the cartlidge in their ear is devloping so you can teach the ear to stand but if they stay floppy the cartlidge willl stay bent and wont allow the ear to stand erect.....shaving the ear helps when there puppies also ....... |
2 Attachment(s) here is the picture after the taping he is 4mths..... and here is how the ears turned out he is 8mths in the other pic....... |
Welcome to YT your baby is adorable and who cares if his ears do not stand up? Will you love him less? Is he healthy? Is he happy? That is truly all that matters. My babies are spoiled :littleangRIP Sophie Lynn Mommy loves and misses you |

:pthank you! which part of texas are ya'll in? i love my babies ears! :p |
The ears on our two never stood up either. Well, actually, our girl's ears stood up for about a week as a puppy but then they flopped back down again. Someone told us to tape their ears up but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So they have floppy ears and we think they are adorable just the way they are. Your little guy is adorable too. |
My Reggie's ears never stood up but I think that adds to his little character. I've always loved his face and his expressions and I don't think he'd be the same dog with stand up ears. Very cute dog!!! |
Oh, be still my heart. Harley is just adorable. And as you can see from my avatar, my darling Eddie's ears were foldover, too. When I strted to look for another adoptee I even looked specifically for one with foldover ears. The two I found don't have them but I love them all anyway. |
Hey, Harley is a for sure cutie! My Rusty has tipped over ears at the top and he is just so cute I think. He is now 6 yrs old and cute as he can be-to me anyway. He also has very thick ear leather but as he ages only the tops flip over. I have never heard of that syndrome! I do know you can trim the hair off 1/3 of the ears, tape the ears, glue the ears, and feed them extra calcium rich foods. Shredded cheese is good mixed in their kibble. I always heard that until they are 1 year old ears can be trained to stand. Probably what happened is that the breeder had no time to sit and rub the ears! I was told to do that but being a new doggie owner (like a dummy) rubbed the wrong part of the ears!!! I rubbed the tops while I should have been rubbing the base LOL! He sure is cute! |
