YT 500 Club Member | Any YTers in Tucson? Hello! I am moving to Tucson in 2010 and I'm wondering if there are any YTers there who can offer help finding a groomer, vet(s), emergency vet(s), rescues, breeders, etc. Also I'd love to have a YT meetup when I eventually settle in. I won't be moving until probably September, but I'm a planner.... so I'm thinking about all of this now, lol.

| Any YTers in Tucson? There's at least one here I'm on the northwest side. I have a great vet for Harley, groomer too! Sounds like you might be military ??? If that's the case you will probably be on the souteast side (nearer to the base). I've met some great yorkie moms here. Welcome to town (a little in advance ) |

YT 500 Club Member | Hi Dawnald! I'm glad there is at least one other Tucsoner (Tucsan?) out there. Yes, I am military and we're trying to figure out where the best place to live will be. I don't want to be out in the boonies, but I'd also love to have a house with a bit of a yard. There is so much to figure out! I'll def ask more questions when it gets closer to moving day!

YorkieTalk Newbie! | New to town... :) Don't rule out the WEST side of town. Straight shot west on Ajo (right off the base) and you can live in a beautiful mountain area with a yard. I have quite a few DMAFB folks in our area. I havent found a groomer yet. I just got my guy this year around Sept I think. We are getting his coat to grow out so I can play with it until we decide what we want his look to be. the closest person I found who knew what they were talking about was in Deming NM! so keep up the search. Maybe we will find one soon.

| I live in Tucson! Welcome! I would be happy to recommend a vet and a groomer. I use Dr. Cohen at Catalina Pet Hospital. His number is 520-759-4612. The office is at 3801 E. Ft. Lowell, near Alvernon. He seems to specialize in small dogs. i was referred to him by Cindy Lewis (livingdustmops) of YT fame....If you say Alison Jones recommended you, I will get a small discount on my next visit! As far as groomers go, I recommend GROOMINDALE'S. This outfit was recommended by Dr. Cohen. It is a grooming and doggie daycare business. They do not keep pets in cages--instead they let the dogs socialize. They do have a small dog area for timid little dogs, but my Edie is usually wanting to break out of there after a short time. You will need to show your dog is up to date on vaccines and has had a bordatella vaccine (kennel cough). They do a great job on my Yorkie and my Westie. Cute story: my Westie befriended a GIGANTIC black dog at Groomingdales last time she went. It was funny to see a little white dog and a giant black dog cuddling... Groomindales address: 4759 North 1st Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85718-5610 (520) 292-9436 |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | We live about 15 miles from town with a new main shopping area with Target Penney's Petsmart etc... even a great movie theater. New housing developments too. Look for roads Valencia, Irvington, Ajo, Kinney. Make sure you are looking West not right around the base. You will see some very nice properties. and again a straight shot out on Ajo from the base. (I live 20 minutes from the base itself if you go by time) We just moved my mom onto a Valencia neighborhood in May and she loves it. Let me know if you find anything.

| Hi another Tucsonan here! I just met Alison J yesterday and would love to meet the others on here as well. Nikkita34 I realize you aren't here yet but when you do arrive I would love to get together. My husband is active duty and we have been stationed here since 2002. We live in Rancho Sahuarita which is about a 30 minute commute to the base. Well worth it we love it out here. AzNacha & Dawnald we should all get out yorkies together some time. So glad to know there are others here in Tucosn. Hope to meet with you all! Melissa |

That's great that you have been stationed in one place for so long! How did you manage that?! I want in!! lol We are going to be moving earlier than expected and we'll be arriving in early July. We have two friends who are looking at the Sahuarita area (one of whom already purchased their house). They are looking at that big development with the crazy kids pools and ammenities. Is that where you are? If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose to be so far out of the city? Sahuarita is just so far south! We were thinking of heading east, maybe between Harrison and Houghton (but we are totally open to suggestions). You can PM me if you don't want to put all that info out there for everyone to see. And we should DEFINITELY have a YT meetup! I can't wait!!

| Hi there -- Bobo and I are technically only in Tucson for the winter, but my husband is going to school out here so we will be back and forth a bit more this year. I would love to meet other yorkie owners. Bobo is a yorkie mix --- yorkie and part chi (we think) I don't have a vet/groomer out here either, so suggestions are appreciated. We are in the N to NW area. The poor baby has had to put up with me trimming his nails and he HATES it; probably because I'm so nervous about it I take 2x as long as I should We love it here. |
