I work for an airline and when I go visit family, I take them with me inside the cabin in thier own little flight bag. Sophie, my rat terrier is a very neat little dog and she just loves everyone. She needs a little friend to run and play with! Anyways, If anyone has any suggestions as to who is a reputable breeder in the OKC/Norman/Ardmore area and does not charge a fortune for their puppies, feel free to let me know.
Thanks bunches!
Maybe someone else can help you.....I don't know of any reputable breeders here in OK?? It seems we have a lot of backyard breeders and a few breeders that breeding is a business for them, but from what I've seen, their breeding stock doesn't appear to me to be very close to standard. Since you work for an airline, though, maybe you could find a breeder that is near a hub for your airline??? You could check under the "Featured Yorkies For Sale" and "Yorkies For Sale or Wanted" forums to see. I'm not sure what your price range is, but hopefully you can find a puppy! I thought $600 was really a deal when I found Bella considering how much I'd seen puppies for, but now I know that you won't find a female puppy that's close to standard for $600 from a reputable breeder (unless she's going to be >7 lbs maybe?) I'm in the process of budgeting so I can get Bella a sister, from a "reputable" breeder this time, but I know it will cost a lot more. (Let me say too that I have no problems with Bella's breeder at all and still stay in contact with her, but she hasn't made breeding her business and done research and testing to make sure her lines are clear of any health issues like what we call a "reputable breeder" most likely has done!) Good luck!!! I hope you find exactly what you're looking for....and maybe someone else knows of someone closer to here.

And maybe I'm wrong about the "$600" part.....I'll find out more about that when I start really looking for another one, I guess. Just thought I should put in that disclaimer....I'm hardly an expert!

Default Looking for a Pup

ok thanks, I have seen lots of ads for Yorkies in Oklahoma, however many of them are promoting the whole Micro/teacup/ teeny garbage that they think is so great. That is not what I am looking for. I want a healthy size not a big vet bill. LOL Anyways, if anyone on here knows where I am able to get a nice little female Yorkie with AKC registration that is correct and about 5lbs mature, that would be great! Send me a response!
Thanks!

Agreed. There was one who was supposedly "reputable" but she charged ridiculous amounts (even for me and I'm willing to spend almost anything after everything we went through with Franklin). I was thinking of buying from her in the future but it turns out she was involved in the selling of some of some puppies to pet stores. Anyway, needless to say, we won't be buying from her. It's not likely that you'll find a reputable breeder in Oklahoma. Oklahoma is number two in the nation for puppymills and backyard breeders. It's ridiculous. The Oklahoma Legislature is in the process of passing a bill that will hopefully cut down on some of the "greeders" (as we like to call them) but until then, I would trust almost no one from here.

Hmm, I did not know this about Oklahoma! That is sad! Well, I suppose I can certainly look for one in southwest Missouri or Texas too. That is where I moved from and I can always run down there to get one if I find one I like. The good thing is that I work for an airline, so I can always get one from elsewhere if that becomes necessary. I would not dare have such a wee one shipped, so I could fly in to pick it up and hand carry it home with me in the cabin. I would just like to be able to check out the breeder's facilities, parents, etc. It is not like I am trying to buy a show dog or anything (Lord knows I cannot afford that LOL). I just want to find a nice quality puppy that is not going to cost me a fortune! I already have a crate, a new baby bed, blanket and new toys, etc. I just need to find the baby.

You will want to look in Texas if those are your other two options...
Oklahoma is #2 but Missouri is #1 .....

Good luck with your search! By the way, we could use all the help we can get to support this bill! Check out the thread on this site: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ll-hb1332.html Sorry, I'm not good with the cut and paste thing. Be sure to share pics when the time comes!!

I think I have a few pics too (I have to wait for Patrick to get them off the camera), so I'll post them there too. I had a note attached to all the goody bags that said I'd post them on the photobucket website I listed, but since it was so crazy and there was no way we could do posed pics with the Valentine-y backdrop/props I brought, I'm not going to do that. I was only going to do that so that they would be big enough files that people could make prints, but there's no reason to put the very few snapshots I have on there (I was so busy I didn't get to take very many photos ). Oh, well!

Default Peanut Butter Dog Cookies

I've had a few people asking for the recipe for the dog cookies I made.

I actually got the recipe off YT (http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sou...html--#3)....I think the OP'er said that it was from when the Three Dog Bakery had been on the Food Network. Bella loves these, and since she can't have the majority of store-bought dog treats anyway because of the kinds and amount of protein in them, I just bake these for her so she has treats!! Anyway, here it is:
2 cups flour
1 Tbsp Baking Powder
1 cup skim milk
1 cup peanut butter
Preheat oven to 375F. Combine the flour and baking powder in one bowl and the milk and peanut butter in another bowl (just keep stirring...they will combine!) Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface (I just put a sheet of wax paper on the counter, or I've used just a clean counter without anything on it too) and knead dough. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick and cut out shapes. Place shapes on a greased cookie sheet and bake for ~20 min or until lightly brown (I think I only baked for ~18 because of my oven). Cool completely and store in an airtight container.
I made 160 small heart shaped dog cookies using this recipe! (I actually doubled it for the meet up, but I usually either just make the whole recipe, or occasionally I halve it too.)

Don't they smell fantastic?!! I tried one the first time I made them (I try anything like that that's made with human ingredients just to see what my baby's eating ....I think I've about got that out of my system though) and they're really, really bland tasting, but it's amazing how good they smell! I had to make peanut butter cookies for us because the smell made me crave them!
