| Beware Northern Utah Emergency Vet. PLEASE READ FOR YOUR PET'S SAFETY ************************************************** ******* Animal Emergency Center. 2465 N Main St # 5 Sunset, UT 84015 (801) 776-8118 ************************************************** ******* I just can't say enough times, or things about this HORRIBLE place. I had a boxer several years back, she had a bad reaction to eating a banana. We took her to this place, all they wanted to do was charge us for everything and guarentee nothing. After being there for 3 hrs, we decided to just go home. The wanted to runs some tests in excess of $600. We still paid the $200 EMERGENCY FEE. 2nd experience, 7 months ago. My friend had a sick pup that was born with a heart murmur, but since it was the middle of the night, she took her new born pup there!! (SAME VET). They wanted to run a blood test, and said maybe the pup was hypoglycemic. (????) Hello, maybe?? So my friend took her newby pup home, and went to her regular vet at 8 am.. The puppy had a heart murmur and they had to put it down. ARE YOU SERIOUS ????? She was at the vet, what they don't listen to the heart?? Oh h*ll no. Tonight 10/27/2008. My mothers yorkie went into labor at 9 pm, I went to my mom's house to help her out. After 2 1/2 hours of labor and no puppy, we had NO choice but to go to the Emergency Vet. They said it was $70 to check out the dog. After the Vet came in, here we go, now comes the fees. They said that they needed 1 x-ray cause they can't tell what's going on. They came back w/2 x-rays, (we never okayed the 2nd) then the Vet said she needed an emergency c-section. He had his assistant come in to show us an $800 bill. I said no to a few things that I knew wasn't necessary. I asked about the x-rays, she was like oh well. I asked her to fix the bill, guess what.. she came back with the same amount because now they were going to charge for all the "little" things that they weren't before!!! They demanded $800 UPFRONT. My mom said the banks not open, she'll have the full amount in cash when they opened at 9am. They tried to get her to sign for a special credit card with their bank. Then said, nope we can't help you. And if you leave your dog here, we will have you charged for animal abandonment. And by the way, if you don't do this now... your dog is going to die because of a stuck puppy. They had my mother so upset I thought I was going to need to take her to the emergency room. Sad to say, the yorkie is at home with my mother, I hope that when her Vet opens at 8 am that it's not too late. NEVER NEVER EVER WILL I GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN !!!! I'LL CALL ALL OF UTAH AND 1/2 OF THE SURROUNDING STATES TO STAY AWAY!!! IF YOU LIVE HERE IN NORTHERN UTAH (DAVIS COUNTY AREA) PLEASE STEER CLEAR. THESE PEOPLE ARE MONEY HUNGRY CARELESS COLD HEART-ED PEOPLE. __________________ YodyGirl

| There is an Emergency Animal Hospital in my area like that, also. Unfortunately, they have us over a barrel. I had to take one of my dogs a few Sat. nights ago, for dehydration due to vomiting and diarrhea....they charged me $516 for 12 hours of IV fluids and one round of antibiotics!! He is now fine, it was a gastro upset due to some grass he got into outside. They would not treat him until I signed their "estimate", and gave a 50% deposit. Best wishes to your mom's dog!!!

| I don't want to start a battle here but Yodygirl has been through a lot. We all know emergency vets are expensive and we all love our babies. When emergencies happen, we want what is best for our precious babies. I took Scooter to the emergency vet about a week ago and price was not an issue. I would have paid anything for my baby to be ok but you better be sure I was checking every last price on the $900 vet bill. Some prices were excessive but my guy was OK. I think Yogygirl's point is that the charges were excessive and the vet was not meeting her needs. We all have issues with the price of our personal healthcare, with or without insurance. I do not know Yodygirl but I believe her point is that she was carefully monitoring the bill and when certain charges were supposed to be removed and the price never changed, that is just wrong. Don't take this the wrong way Audkat but you just signed on to write the post for the first time ever...How can we be sure you don't work for the clinic? Your answer is very harsh and you are being mean spirited to not only Yodygirl but many others who have been through the ringer with different vets. YT is a community where we all can speak openly and I appreciate hearing your side. I respectfully disgree with it though. She had enough sense to take a sick dog to the vet in a time of need....and it may be the only emergency vet in the area so she had no choice. My bet is after all that she has been through, she now has her regular vets cell number and will just call him/her the next time. Please be respectful of others opinions and don't attack someone. This is a FRIENDLY community and we are all here to share and learn from each other.

| Yes, but Audkat's comment was from yesterday. It popped up as new when I pulled up the Soutwest Threads. I am glad that it was removed.

| I understand why she is upset. It is a very hard thing to go through when your animal is sick, and it grows even harder when the bill reaches high amounts. Two years ago easter, I brought my 2 year old border collie in because he had a seizure and he ended up dying there that day. The bill was over three hundred dollars and I got a dead friend in exchange. They were very nice and sensitive to how I was feeling and I greatly appreciated what they did for me that day. I truly believe that if someone is going to dedicate eight or more years of there life learning about animals I am sure they have the best intentions and I'm sure everything they do is necessary. I just don't think it is someone elses call (who isn't as educated) to decide what is essential to make their animals better. I'm sorry I was so rudely blunt about it, it just really upsets me to hear someone complain about these people because they dedicate there lives to do there best to save animals lives. I know it's pricey, but if you ask them (which I did because over three hundred dollars seemed a lot)the company is a corporation, and the employees don't decide the prices or policies. |

YT Addict | I am so sorry you had to go though that. I am never saying anything bad about my vets every any. We don't have a 24 hour vet here open, very small town. But I had something that wake me up at 12 am and I just knew something was wrong. When I got down the hall I saw Ace my male Yorkie which was about 6 months old and he could not walk or do anything. I knew that it was his sugar becuase of how small he was and I had heard and read all about it. But I had never seen it for myself. I was scraming for my husband to get up and find the vet HOME phone number. I was giveing Ace sugar water, and nur-cal. I got the vet on the phone told him to please meet me at his office and he did. By the time I got ace to the office the nur-cal had kicked in and he was back to walking but was still alittle slow. We did blood work and I went home feed him some soft canned food, went back the next day to pay my bill of $150. So we have some good caring vets. But they know me very good. |
