How is little Kirby doing today Connie ??? |
Oh no :( How's he doing today Connie? |
I hope Kirby is doing better today....:( |
Thanks everyone, for your prayers and well wishes. We don't know how this happened to his back. Melissa wonders if it's because she just got wood floors and got rid of the carpet and maybe he jumped down from something, used to the carpet. Anyway, Kirby has been at the vet today and it's been a busy day there, so Melissa is supposed to go there at 5:30 to see what the x rays showed and find out what to do for him. I will update you then! Thanks again! Hugs to you all! |
Hope they get good news. I will keep them in my prayers |
Oh no! I will definitely keep Kirby in my prayers. I hope the vet appointment goes well and Kirby gets some relief! |
Poor baby. You know how painful that is. I hope that pain meds and rest will be all he needs...no lasting damage. XOXO |
Any news about little Kirby? |
Prays coming from Jake and I :) :animal36 |
2 Attachment(s) Poor little Kirby. The XRay showed that the disc ruptured and now he's to be kept VERY still...not walk at all for a week. We are to pick him up to take him outside to go potty, then pick him up and carry him back to the crate. After that very limited as to what he does...and the vet is looking at a 6 week recovery. The reason he has to be very still is because the disc is pushing on the spinal cord, which could sever it and cause paralysis. Right now it's pushing enough on it to cause a little paralysis, like yesterday when he'd walk and fall over. I will be babysitting him while my daughter is working and he'll have to be in the crate, unless I take him out and hold him and can also put heat on it once in a while. Please pray that he recovers from this. The vet upped the prednisone and pain killers. Thanks everyone! Here's a couple of pics of him. |
Oh Connie, my thoughts and prayers are with your daughter and Kirby ... I hope he feels better. I do not like that he is on Prednisone .... I really hope things turn out okay ... xxoo cute sweet Kirby ... BIG hugs! |
Aw, poor little guy. So sorry to hear that Connie. I hope he will heal quickly. Is is possible to use a sling harness to hold him up when you have to take him potty? That's what I did for Tink when she had her hip bone removed. I have hers from pocomutt if you want to use it. PM me and I'll send it to you. |
:hands: :hands: :hands: Prayers for Kirby. Praying for complete healing. And that he's not too bored the next few weeks. |
I am so sorry that Kirby was injured! What a flashback ... to about 20 years ago! My Amanda's toy poodle jumped down from my neighbor's sofa onto her hardwood floor and was paralized in the entire lower part of her little body. Our vet sent her to Auburn University Vet Hospital and they tried "cage therapy" for a few weeks ... after a long recovery, she was good as new! It was certainly a miserable time for everyone, but I was so happy to avoid surgery. We will be praying for little Kirby and all of you. |
Sending my prayers for Kirby! ~Marly |
