| Tapeworn Help okay scrappy has been really sick all day watery vomit and direahea. we thought he ate some bad turkey meat. i started giving him a bath and noticed tons of teeny tiny white stuff all over his back end! seems like he is infested with tapeworms. im pregnant and i have my son and the other 2 dogs and of course the hubby. he now what the dogs GONE! im lysoling and bleaching what i can. what else can i do? scrappy is in the crate and will go to the vet first thing tomorrow. im scared of us getting it...what if something flinged back on me while i was bathing him?? you know, like before i noticed it? i bleached the tub and we all stripped and took showers, what else can i do? i have never seen it like this before |

| Tapeworms come from injesting fleas. Does not mean your baby has to be flea infested. it only takes 1 flea. A pill will from your vet take care of it. Tapeworms do not show up on a fecal slide. I don't think people can get them. |

The kind of tapeworm that dogs get and the kind that humans can get are different. We cannot get the kind that dogs get.

| thanks everyone i just got back from the emergency vet. scrappy didnt have worms. what happened was after getting sick and having direahea i let him outside and the nasty flies laid eggs. The vet shaved him and cleaned him, gave him fluids for the dehydration and a rx for the upset stomach. i havent been so grossed out before in my life!! he's resting in his crate now |

| Poor little Scrappy. I never knew flies would lay eggs on a moving target, but I'm glad that's all it was. Altho, tapeworms are easy to get and easy to get rid of. I hope Scrappy is feeling better. I'll bet he has the cleanest little bottom in town from now on . (Flies are so nasty ).

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG that IS gross - and also dangerous - there's an article about a puppy mill dog - and this is GRAPHIC SO STOP IF YOU THROW UP EASY a woman wrote an article about a dog she rescued - her little anus was full of fly eggs that had hatched - I won't go into details but know this - it CAN happen - you may want to get a vet check in a week or so and make sure none got in there - you dont want to hear details but it was one of the worst things I ever read and saw |

| ohh dont tell me it could get worse!! i know the vet said i had nothing to worry about now because i found it so soon.because he went out and a little while later i decided to bathe him and thats when i noticed. it sure didnt take those nasty flies long. can you imagine what they do on the kitchen counters and food. its been bad this summer with flies around here we keep fly strips up. i get so grossed out when i see a fly and now im petrified of something else happening thanks everyone. |
