| Wooden Floor, Limp, Hot Summers Hi. i hope someone can help with a few questions. Our dog is maybe 3 months old, a girl called Honey. We have wooden floors and she often slips a bit and now is limping. We took her to the vet and the vet gave her some painkillers and said that we should not play with her for a few day and leave her in the cage. After this she should be OK. However, I am still a bit worried. I have some questions: 1. Should we not let her on the wooden floors ever? 2. If not any suggestions as to what we should put down on the floor? Also, it is quite hot in Japan (where I live) in the summer and my girlfriend and I are usually out in the afternoons. Are Yorkies very susceptible to the heat? We came back today and she was very sleepy (unlike her normal self) so I guess it is just from being in the heat all day. If they are susceptible, would anyone know what room temp is good for them? Yours worried. Charlie. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby - if she's slipping - what about area rugs on the wood floors ? and as far as the heat - you could set up a little fan for her for when you aren't there - just make sure it's pet safe and has a cover on the front |

| Is she very small? Did she eat while you were away? Many times, they cannot go very long without having something to eat. I try not to let the temperature exceed 80 or 81 degrees.

| I have wood floors too, I spread area rugs through out the floor so that they get some grip here and there. Also, trimming the bottom of the paw pads can help give them more traction. Make sure you have fresh water down all the time and that the baby is eating regularly.

| I'd put area rugs down, and we keep our house at about 76 degrees. They seem to be comfortable with that. Keep the nails and paw hair trimmed so she can have some extra traction.

| I totally agree I don't have ac here in PR but i do have 3 fans going at all times. Ryo loves to stand in front of the fan, so I think that is a good solution for you. |
