| Please say a prayer for my little Cinnamon...she is sick with bloody diarrhea I came home from work tonight and my little one had diarrhea. In the two hours I was home she had about 5 episodes and didnt seem right. I read online that you can give them a half a teaspoon of pepto bismol and headed to the store 10 minutes away to get it. By the time I got back, she had more diarrhea and it had blood in it. Thank God I live 10 minutes from an emergency vet and took her in. They took a stool sample and blood work and said she was dehyrated already. They gave her an IV and some medicine and sent her home. They said she would probably sleep tonight and to watch to see if she became sicker. I would have preferred they keep her just in case. I am going to be so worried all night and know I wont sleep for watching her.. Am I overly worried? Have any of you had this and how did it turn out...was your baby okay? Please say a prayer for my sweet little baby girl. Laura |

| My American Bulldog that I used to have had bloody diarrhea a few times. With her it was because she had a really sensitive stomach and when she would eat something she shouldn't she would get diarrhea. After going and going she would get blood in her stools. I took her to the vet a few times for it and they gave her some meds to make the diarrhea go away and some antibiotics to prevent infections. I can't remember if they gave an answer for the diarrhea, I think it was mainly just from going so often and the lining of her stomach & colon were irritated. We had to search for a dog food that wouldn't upset her stomach. I always felt so sorry for her but she always recovered just fine. I'll say a prayer for you and your little one. I hope she feels better in the morning.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Make sure they check for Giardia - it's been very common all over lately. Marcel had 2 bouts of it.

| I hope Cinnamon is feeling better. A few weeks ago my Peppy had a bout with bloody diarreah. He wound up spending 4 days at the hospital. Primarly because they wanted to rest his gi track and in order to do that he needed iv nutrition. All of his blood work checked out perfectly normal and all is well. I will keep you and Cinnamon in my thoughts and prayers. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I hope she's better too - did they check for Coccidia ? That will show the same symptoms you're talking about and it only requires a simple stool check done right there at the vet - |

| Something similar happened to Jerome a couple of weeks ago. I left to work that morning and came home during my lunch and he was fine, by the time I came back from work in the evening he had diahrrea and had been throwing up, then the diahrrea got bloody so hubby and me took him to the ER. By the time we got there he was already dehydrated. He stayed there all weekend(this happened on Friday night) and the diagnosis was HGE, of course he was on IV all this time, they gave us clavamox and special diet food. He is well now, but I was really scared. Is Cinammon doing better today? Has the vet told you what is wrong with him? I hope you and little cinammon are fine. Keep us posted.
