Lethargic with diarrhea Last Monday I took my yorkie to a a kennel for a 5 day stay. This is the first time my dog has been away from us. The place looked very clean & nice. He had his own private room with a little doggie door. I took his own food (Royal Canine) in separate serving portions so he would not eat anything that he's not used to. I also took his bed & a couple of toys. When I picked him up on Saturday, he cried all the way home. He has not been himself since. He's lethargic, barely eating & has diarrhea. I've given him Nutrical as a replacement since he does not have much of appetite. Can someone give me any ideas as to what could be wrong? I don't know what to think. |
I would take him to the vet asap. Yorkies are so easily upset, and stress is one of the biggest problems that results in health issues. Good luck. |
i would get to the vet! so sorry to hear that your li'l one is having so much trouble! i hope it was just from the stress of being apart and that he'll be back to his old self soon. just incase though, i would certainly take him to the vet tomorrow since yorkies are small, they're more vulnerable than normal sized dogs. please keep us posted! |
Thank you for the replies. I took him for a walk this morning. He was not his self but was entertained by the walk. He also had a treat, ate some food & drank water. I'll keep him in observation today. I'll keep you posted....thanks again. |
Poor thing is probably stressed from being locked up for a few days and without his family. Hope he gets to feeling better but a vet check may be in order. You never know if any other puppies there were sick and had doggy flu or something. Hope he gets better soon. |
That is my thought too. These little Yorkies can get bad diarrhea even to the point of being bloody puddles, from stress and foods. The crying on the way home makes me think he was traumatized from the experience of being put in a strange place and left there. Dogs don't know we are coming back. They only feel abandoned. Give your baby lots of love and attention, but at the same time if he doesn't show any imporvement in 24 hours, I'd have him checked out by the Vet. |
vet visit Poor little boy!!! (We just brought Chibi to the vet this morning, since he has had very loose stools all this weekend. We found that he had a little infection.) So bring your baby to the vet, if only just to make sure he is ok. Feel better soon furbaby! |
