| help!! Pooping mucus and vomiting! My almost 5 months yorkie isnt eating his dog food at all. Its because my parents been feeding him table scraps behind my back. I keep an eye on him when i am at home, but when i go to work, my parents seek a little food for him since he wont eat his food. For the past week and a half, HE WILL NOT EAT HIS FOOD. We've tried to mix it with other food like candiade, kibbles, science diet, purina. everything is unless. we even soak his food. He still wont eat. We met a man at the park this weekend and he told us he had the same problem with his little yorkie, she was a very picky eater. SO he boiled chicken broth for her and mixed her dog food in it. So we tried it. My puppy would only eat the chicken and not his food. Then we notice that when he wants to go outside, he would run and eat grass. Then when he comes back in, i see him vomiting. About 3 days ago, he vomit some yellow liquid. Then, yesterday, i notice his poop was very runny and had mucus in it! then today, it was also runny and had mucus. I've read aorund the forum about runny and mucus poop,. and im very worried ! Im taking him to the vet asap tomorrow morning! I hope its nothing bad because for the pass week, we thought he wont eat his food because he wants some of the other foods. Now im so worried! |

| Not sure about the mucus. That could be a number of things. The yellow liquid that he is throwing up is probably bile acid from his stomach being empty. Try some scrambled eggs to help his tummy. A 5 month old puppy can not go without eating for long. The important thing is to get something in him. If he is throwing up then he could become dehydrated. Try to get some Pedialyte in him as well. If he is not eating only because he wants table scraps then you may need to comprise for a bit. It sounds like you are only giving him dry food. Try mixing the dry food with some wet food. I would try Merricks Turducken. It has reals chunks of chicken and turkey and smells just like people food. You might be able to fool him! Hope he gets better soon!

| Just Back From Vet Same Thing! I just got back from the vet myself with my little Abbie, a 4 pounder. She's vomited a few times over the last week and her poop has been kind of loose with a lot of mucus and kinda jelly- like. Anyway, this morning she woke me at 5:30 am in desperate need to go out which is not like her. She pooped 5 times between 5:30 and 2:00 when I finally called the vet. They had me bring her right in because she's so thin and so has no fat reserves. If she gets sick, they've warned me she could be in trouble fast. Anyway, after a through exam, the vet said what I was describing was classic colitus which could be caused by a new food, stress, something she ate outside that didn't agree with her, or, it could be a chronic condition. She said the very best thing for vomiting was 1 cc of Pepto Bismal twice a day and for loose stools, 1/4 teaspoon twice a day of metamucil. Because Abbie wasn't eating well, she gave me a canned food called IM by Purina. It's a high fiber food to bulk up her stool, she said within 24 hours. So, you might want to try these remedies. I'm not telling you not to bring your baby to the vet, but thought you might be interested in hearing what my vet said. Good luck to you. Let us know how you make out, okay?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Marcel just got over Giardia w/ similar symptoms. They can test a stool for it.

| Please take your little one to the vet. It could be so many things but if it is a bacterial infection (your symptoms sounds like it is) only drugs will help him. These little ones can go down fast. Please do not delay.

| thanks everyone their your concern! well i took chopstix to the vet todat at 2:45. the doctor said he's dehydrated. The yellow stuff that he threw up was bile. He was so dehydrated from the constant dirarha. So the doctor gave him some fluid and gave him two shots that will help with the dirarha. I was also given a pill that my puppy must take in the morning, And he cannot eat until tomorrow morning . Every since we;ve been back home, he's been in his bed sleeping quietly. I feel so bad for him. i hope he will return to normal in a couple of days . |
