My Puppy Jerome is Sick :( HELP!!! Hello All, My Yorkie(Jerome) got sick (vomit) about three nights ago in bed. This was the first time he's ever been sick. I with-held food for a little while and decided to see how he reacts the next night. He eats both we and dry Inova food so I'm not feeding him crap. So the next night he threw up again some watery stuff. So I took him to the vet and because he was still active and acting normal the gave him some stuff for his tummy and told me to see how he does. So the next night he was fine but the next morning I woke up to the smell of vomit again. He's now lethargic and he looks tired and weak. I feel like his health is declining. I have an apointment for the vet today @ 4:00 so after some blood test we'll HOPEFULLY!!! know whats going on. Has anybody experienced this before? I want my buddy to be ok. I hope it's not too serious. Thanks, Glenn - Jerome's Daddy |
I can't offer any advice, but we'll keep your furbaby in our prayers. Its so hard to have a sick pup.... |
I am so sorry Jerome is not feeling well. Your doing the best for him by taking him back to the vet. It has been mentioned on here a dog flu going around in different areas. One member had three dogs sick with it. Hopefully the vet can get to the bottom of it. Feel better real soon Jerome. Welcome to YT also. Carol & Buddy |
Thank you all for your prayers. You don't know how much I appreciate it. If anybody has any advice to make him more comfortable please let me know. He just threw up some hot dogs and cheese and most of the water I gave him:confused: |
Welcome to YT, I'm sorry to hear your puppy is sick, how old is he? he seems young, it's good that you're taking him to the vet, make sure he gets water to drink often, even if he vomits it up. Hoping your little baby feels better soon. |

is sick. What does he normally eat in the way of dog food and how old is he? Table food for Yorkies is not a good thing. Veggies, carrots, green beans are good though when he feels better. Carol & Buddy |

Do a search above on sick yorkies. There are lots of threads on here regarding what members do when their little ones are sick. This should help. Or just scan around sick and injured where you posted this. Good luck. Hope Jerome is his old self before long. Carol & Buddy |
Good News This is Leah, Jerome's mom talking now The nice Vet Dr. did some blood work, and Jerome was a good little guy. Turns out he has pancreatitus and will have to eat special diets of rice and chicken (very small amounts) until he can keep it down Thank you all for your prayers! Hope to post a pic of Jerome soon!:aimeeyork |
Yeah! We are glad he is ok. |
Yep, no hot dogs. It's not only the immediate effects of the high fat in them (pancreaitis) but the long term effects of the sodium (kidney disease) you have to be careful of. If you must treat him with a hot-dog type treat, there are toddler chicken sticks ( I think they're from Beech Nut) that are low in fat and sodium. When he feels better of course;) I'm so glad he's gonna be okay!!!!!!!!!! |
Pancreatitis is pretty common in this breed. Their little stomachs are just SO sensitive. Glad to hear your baby is on the road to recovery. Sounds like he is a very lucky little boy to have such caring adoptive parents. |
