Not as lucky as ... I am not as lucky as Yorki3Lover223, I was watching her post yesterday because... Yesterday morning, my new pup did something funny in my hallway, no fall  but she started crying loud and I and all my other furbabies went to check whats wrong and she was limping, rather, walking on only 3 legs. The fourth she had tucked all the way into her body. I figured to let her ride it out for a few hours because I could not see or feel anything wrong with her and when I flexed it and rubbed it she did not whine but she is still limping today. I just examined it (not a pro of corse) rubbed it and felt for differences between that one and the other back one and found nothing. But she is still not walking on it. She has it down but not touching the ground all the way, as she walks on the three "other feet". She does not seem to be in any pain, if that makes sense, even though she is not using it. I have been gently massaging it and she is enjoying the extra attention but other than the fact that she is not "using it" she seems pretty normal. I see improvement in her today, but do you think it will go away or should I take her to the vet today? Maybe she will be better by tomorrow, I hope! I feel like a dummy not knowing whats going on with her...:( I spend almost every minute of the day with them and I just want her to feel better. |
Brownie also today what is going on !! he was walking then all of a sudden he picked it up No yelping or hurting even when i touch it hes putting it down now but every once in a while he putt it up Yesterday he fell off the bed i think that has something to do with it im gonna give it a couple days and see i know its not broken if i see hes in any discomfort ill give him baby pain meds good luck with your baby |
When ZsaZsa was little she fell off the bed and hurt her leg. I called the vet and of course it was a Friday and he told me she was probably fine and to just watch her over the weekend and to bring her in Monday if it was not all better by then. Well you've probably already figured out it was not ok. She walked on it a little and even used it to scratch some but still wasn't using it like i thought she should. I took her to the vet that following Monday and it turned out she'd broken the growth plate in her little knee. They did surgery and she's fine now. I guess what I wanted to tell you is that she should be ok for a couple of days if you just want to watch it unless she's in alot of pain, I'd just keep her quiet and not allow any jumping off of the couch or anything. Hope she's feeling better soon. |

Travers fell off my lap the day before yesterday (Thursday) when he wriggled trying to get away as I was spraying his teeth. Unfortunately he landed on his back on one of the spokes of my office chair. He yelped real loud and I thought the worst:eek: (broken back). But he could still walk, was just limping and holding his right front leg up. So I kept him crated the rest of the day (except when I carried him to go potty) and took him to the vet yesterday. The vet said that it was good that I just kept him in his crate so he couldn't do anymore damage. It ended up he hurt his shoulder so the vet gave him an antiinflammatory/pain medication and told me to keep him crated until Monday. If he's not better by then he said to take him back for x-rays to make sure he didn't break anything. Luckily he is doing LOTS better, just a little bit of a limp. So, hopefully he won't need the x-rays. But I will continue the medicine and crate rest. My advice would be to keep Zsa Zsa crated until you see the vet and then see what the vet says. Hopefully it is just a soft tissue injury and not a fracture. :xfingers: |

The vet said he thought it might also be a fracture in a growth plate, but he found nothing. :( He did 2 x-rays and then 1 more and then 2 more just to make sure, I'm happy no fracture or broken bone but she is still limping. :( He gave me pain meds for her and I am keeping her extra close!! :p I hope she feels better soon!! :p I will keep you all updated... Thank you |

Since you already gave her the pill i'd just watch her and make sure she doesn't over do it. you may think she's better if she's using it and running around again but she's probably not. it just doesn't hurt at the moment. |
Poor baby - I hope she feels better soon...they didn't find anything wrong with her leg ?? What about her hip ? |
Hmmm...that is strange that the vet didn't find anything wrong. What's the next step? Just watch her? I was going to ask about her hip, too. I had a horse one time that came up lame one day, and after many, many tests on his leg they found out the injury was way up in his hip. I know horses aren't even close to yorkies, but that's the first thing I thought of when you described it. :) I hope she feels better soon! |
