| Rabbies shot for puppy Hello to everyone, This is my first post. I have a new Yorkie puppy, 4 months old who just got his rabbies shot last night at the vet. He seemed to be a little under the weather last night and when I went to take him out this morning, he just seemed very sleepy. He also seemed warm and shaking a little bit. I am leaving in a few minutes to go to the vet but just wondering what you all thought??? Thanks to all in advance. Lisa |

| It could be that your pup has had a reaction to the shot. I am sure your vet will be able to tell you more.

| Rabies shot Hello again, Just got back from the vet and he says it is some sort of reaction to the rabbies shot. He advised me to not leave him alone today and call if anyting changes. He seems to be a little better as time goes on. Thanks. Lisa |

| Rabies shot Now he just threw up. Called vet and he wants to admit him and put him on IV so he doesn't dehydrate. Lisa |

| I hope he feels better soon. Did he get another shot as well or was it just the rabies? Kona was supposed to get her last booster and rabies shot, but the vet advised that we come back next week since she has always been so out of it after the booster. |

| Ziggy's breeder said not to give Yorkies a rabies vaccine before the age of 7 months because of possible reactions. My vet didn't agree and said it was a state law to vaccinate them at 12 to 16 weeks. Anyway, he wanted to give Ziggy his shot but I managed to put it off....Ziggy won't be 7 months until August. I sure hope your little one will be okay. Keep us posted. Also, Welcome to Yorkie Talk.

| So sorry you're going through this, hopefully with a little fluids he will perk up quickly. Maybe he was just a little sick from the shot so he didn't eat and then got dehydrated and maybe a little low in blood sugar. It doesn't take much for these little ones. I also wait until at least 7 months for the rabies, but I also don't take my dog to like Petsmart, doggy parks, obedience classses, boarding, grooming, etc. I also never give the rabies on the same day as a booster. I wait at least one week, usually two weeks in between. Keep us posted, we'll all be praying for your little one. |
